I'll look at it again, but my initial thought was the ball was too high for anything but a header
He did what attackers should do and what defenders are praised for. He was aggressive and thats a good thing. It was an unfortunate collision but perfectly fine. He doesn't need to consider the safety of the defender when you're trying to score. That wasn't an attempt to head. He jumped high enough to use whatever part of his body the ball was heading towards.

I don’t think so. The defender was bending down and using his neck to flick the ball away.
Off for sure. Fecking hate that rule.
all that fa’nnying about with a great finish only to be offside. Who does he think he is, Werner?

The rule that linesmen keep their flag down until after the play? That’s ridiculous isn’t it

Yep. Itll eventually lead to some sort of unnecessary injury caused by a play that should've never gone on.

Of course you need to consider the safety of a defender when you are trying to score. Ask Petr Cech. You can't risk serious injury to a player just because there is a chance of a goal.
As I said, I'll look at it again in terms of height of the ball.
Rudi with the perfect assist if Werner was on.
Werner will win this game single handedly

You definitely don't. You protect yourself and of course don't go out of your way to hurt someone. But if you have a chance it's perfectly within your right to do your best to score.
Also he didn't risk serious injury to him. He jumped off to the side of the defender who used his head to flick the ball away. Basically entering the area of the attacker.

So reckless challenge ok when trying to score a goal but not ok in any under circumstance? Please point me to the page of rules and regulations for that one?
SWTN - the Petr Cech injury was entirely different. Not a fair comparison at all.
