I have Cal down as a loan

Its no shame at this stage, he is only like 7 months older than Billy

They players that have most made their mark on the 1st team from the academy all had loans

Id love to see Bayern facing up against CHO for a year rather than getting him

Conor Gallagher is a conundrum

Easy shout is another loan but maybe somewhere more afield

Arguably Conor had a more productive year for development than Billy or Cal

Literally no role for him in the current system though

He would basically need to be in Kante's spot and wouldnt offer the same thing

The evidence we have atm suggests loans work better

You can point to Foden i know but thats a different set up

Even if we are pointing to other set ups too you have the likes of Kane who was on loan for 4 years

The other good example rn is probably Saka as well. But i dont see a way for Gilmour to break in the way he did with what we have in midfield

I mean Gilmour already did break in after the Liverpool and Everton games in 2020. He was unlucky with the timing of lockdown.

Utd let McTominay sneak into their midfield without a loan by signing absolute kak and flakey players to play CM

I also have faith in us to set up good loans for players we want to develop

I think by and large we are really good at playing that side of the football business

Not all work out but a good chunk of them do

I dont see the point on focusing so much on the players that have failed when we have developed probably more than any other club over the past few years

Even the ones that have left now like Ake, Lamptey, Tomori, Bamford etc

Our ex youth are all over the place rn with settled careers
