Btw we’ve spent over £100m now without improving the squad. I really hope that Tosin Adarabioyo isn’t our Silva replacement. We aren’t being linked to defenders that are over the age of 16.

Wait til we sell Chalobah and Gallagher. Then we can say we spent £100m to worsen the squad

I'm guessing Maresca is happy with the French trio, Tosin & Colwill. I think Veiga can play CB too.

We're linked to Jorgensen as second choice keeper. Looking to send Petrovic out on loan

If that means we end up with Sanchez as our first choice keeper instead of Petrovic, that would be another downgrade.

Sanchez was a joke of a signing and everyone knew it before it even happened

We’ve been linked to Murillo from Nottingham Forest as a Silva replacement, who would definitely improve our squad (albeit it at a steep price).

You keep saying this but you can’t prove this one way or another any year without seeing how the team sets up and plays under a new coach first.

One thing I don’t want to hear about this season is having to wait many months for the coach to get the team going.

With Potter and Poch we put up with a long period of crap and then finally did see some improvements, only for them to get sacked immediately afterwards anyway.

Given Maresca a 5 year contract, surely they plan on giving him time. This merry go round with managers isn't helping.

The problem I have is that we're still spending bucket loads of money on kids that won't improve us THIS season. Most of them will be out on loan.

It's such a confused strategy. We continue a transfer policy that equates to a slower long term aim for player growth and squad development yet measure managers in the short term.

It is clear that we are still not going to make the much needed short term fix of buying a quality goal scoring striker, so it's very much the same strategy in play.

I commend you all really for still showing interest in this Sh!tshow.
This is the least interested i've been in football as a whole but also chelsea football club. Feels like the club I once knew is no longer. The players, the backroom staff, stuff happening at the ground, in the media, in social media. The degradation of the club culture that I knew and abrasion of essentially everything that made us a force for 2 and a half decades has been the worst mismanagement of any entity that I can remember.

The only way out of this is hoping enough of the Sh!t thrown at the wall can stick. That's the only way. It won't be due to planning or tactical management within the hierachy. They've essentially played football manager hoping that the players they bought have 5 star potential.

I'm so done with it all tbh and it's the first time in my life when I'm not fussed when the season starts.

Lol, it's a fair post. I dont feel that dissimilar. I think it is only FOMO and Cole Palmer that keeps me still engaged.

posted on 23/7/24

I don't know what we as supporters would have done without Palmer the last year. Sure we had some other players do good work like Gusto and Gallagher, but without Palmer I think we would finally be a darts thread.

I've been moving away from football since before Sarri tbf, so I don't think I can blame our rapid and risible decline. It doesn't help though.

strangely enough I am much the same. Mine kicked in around 2019ish...wasn't aided by covid and then just the ridiculousness of the sport. The lack of thought for fans. The monday night kick offs at 8:15. The ridiculous wages. The poor treatment of managers and staff.

When football imo was something I was involved in, now feels just like a tv show.

Cos creativity has been coached out the game. Look at all the people up for the Ballon d'or. Not 1 amazing footballer, but many amazing athletes.

We unfortunately have been seeing this across many sports where we have replaced creativity with efficiency, cos efficiency wins - not as pretty but it wins more.

Football has been in decline for the spectator for the last decade and a half with the era ending somewhat ironically with 2 great examples of the extremes and what they can achieve. Messi the enigma, the guy who doesn't train, just turns up and makes magic Vs Ronaldo, the ultimate athlete. Both are super successful, one I would rather watch, and the other I would rather have in my team. Hopefully its a phase we can pass thru, and we see people like Cole Palmer, and hope they don't get suffocated by tactics etc and can play. Lets see
