Club are dumb too, should of done the apology, apologised to all the team mates and then kept his head down, instead his back front page of the news and surrounded by it again

It’s so stupid, I wanted him to go anyway but surely now this seals it

We’d sack a player if they went to a KKK meeting publically, what’s the difference Enzo going to a stadium full of racist chants but smiling and waving

posted on 22/7/24

Ok he made a “mistake” but then cut your holiday short and come back and apologise to your team mates if you really mean it

Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez is paraded at his former club River Plate amid racism storm… before the WHOLE STADIUM sing the offensive song aimed at France and their black players

—————-

Leave him to stay in Argentina

What an absolute tool (again).

And to think all Enzo had to do was not livestream himself.

Just sums up how above the law some of these players think they are. What an idiot. Was there not a part of him that thought publishing this to the world might not be a great idea ?

I don't want him at the club anymore. And there must be a lot of our players feeling the same. I don't see how he stays here tbh.

The fact that there wasn’t any hesitation or embarrassment is the clearest indicator to me of the racist culture in Argentina.

Like even when Hulk Hogan outright admitted he was racist it was a private recording and he would never have dared saying it out loud. Because at least he knew what he was saying was offensive.

It’s also a reason why in general we should avoid super expensive transfers. Most of the time they’ve proven to be not worth it. Even if the player is talented they could let you down at any time with bad attitude.

I only saw the video yesterday but I never realised before how much of a punchable face Enzo has.

Wait what? Are we blaming Enzo for the stadium singing a song? Seems a bit silly.

Sure the initial video but unless he got a sing song going at the stadium then I don’t see why you guys are after blood.

No,but what a missed opportunity for him to try and put it right. I am making the assumption he had the chance to say a few words to the crowd. If he did, then what a shame he didn't address his error.

Ultimately though the Argentine FA has to be doing something about this mind.

Nah I’m just saying this is a pretty clear sign that the country as a whole needs a cultural shift. This is bigger than Enzo himself. All he did was show it to the rest of the world.

Feel like Messi needs to say something. Messi wasn’t on the bus himself but he’s the captain and there were plenty of his teammates who must’ve also been singing along. And it wouldn’t have been the first time so he must’ve heard it before.

Yeah, I agree with you CSTP. This is obviously a cultural thing in Argentina - they are clearly racist, yet unaware that they are racist. Enzo was merely doing what everyone else does there - thinking a racist song is some kind of joke. He’s especially stupid for posting it on social media - but I think that just proves he’s more stupid than he is racist.

Unlike Hulk Hogan (in your example above), he doesn’t realize he’s being racist. This just tells me that educating him as to how the rest of the world thinks could solve this problem going forwards.

Incidentally, this issue isn’t confined to Argentina. Liverpool U18s walked off the field after allegations of racism from the Hoffenheim team they were playing. Hoffenheim said it wasn’t racism, just a “linguistic issue”. Also the South Korean FA have complained to FIFA after someone on the Como team (Fabregas’ new team) made fun of Hwang’s name when they played Wolves. They said their club “does not tolerate racism”.

It seems different countries have different tolerance levels to racism.

He filmed himself and the Argentina players singing the song. And then decided to share that with the world.

There's not much to defend here I'm afraid.

At least we have that brief positive spell when Sarr was LB and Ziyech was like a RWB. It didn’t last long but there were a few good games during that time, I think including against Spurs

Btw we’ve spent over £100m now without improving the squad. I really hope that Tosin Adarabioyo isn’t our Silva replacement. We aren’t being linked to defenders that are over the age of 16.
