Not playing Rudiger £200k/week was the real mistake
Think of all the money we’ve wasted on inferior players during the struggle to replace him

2nd game of pre-season. Too early to judge the team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But we can judge the players we’ve seen numerous times surely? Badiashile lol
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On the 35 players signed since Clearlake bought us, how many are actually quality? Gusto and Palmer for sure, Nkunku maybe if he stays fit, Caicedo if he improves his form ... and there are a couple with potential. But 25 of them have been a waste of money.

Yes, and he was awful. But I do think the defence as a whole won't look anywhere near this chaotic during the actual season.
Even though Leicester fans were mixed on Maresca, one thing I did read over again was that he did a good job with defenders they didn't rate, particularly Vestergaard.
We’ve been awful defensively for years with silva papering over many cracks. I can’t see that improving with these lacklustre players but happy to be suprised
Oh well it doesn’t really matter. I’m done with the club for the most part

We have the previous ownership to thank for that though. As bad as this new ownership has undoubtedly been we're also paying for mistakes made from the end of the Abramovich era as well. As if we didn't have enough going against us lol.

Feeling the same. Have felt pretty disconnected this entire summer.
All these signings have a whiff of a 15 year old playing FM for the first time and preseason was always likely to be a bit shaky with a new manager and all. Just hoping the team can get it together before the season starts but I have to say, I don't think I'll be getting anywhere near as worked up as I have in past years if (when) it all goes belly up.

Exactly
Fofa gets a little leeway cos he is coming back from what more or less a year off
Bads has no excuse for being that bad
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No guarantee that Fofa will ever reach his promised heights after being out injured for so long. Funny that we seem to be intent on selling the only CB that has shown (semi-consistently) that they can play at the required level...

The way to avoid getting worked up is to actually go out during weekends
The only thing that matters is the first 10 PL games of the season. We can judge then just how crap we are or not.

Has there been a time when we had a bad pre-season followed by a not bad actual season? Seems like this one could follow the same course

I dont think it has any thing to do with pre season. You either have the right players and right coach or you don't. The real season will out
I'd love to be bothered to find the comments after last pre season when poch had us playing like world beaters
Pretty sure you were all wetting your pants
This is preseason
No one gives a fak, marko marin and Victor moses say hi
You are a genuine idiot if you take any pre season game serious

It’s possible to have good pre season and bad actual season. That happens a lot.
My point was I don’t think I’ve seen us do the opposite.

Lol...I just wanted to give them a taste of their own medicine tbh. It's a pointless thread because anyone who has any view slightly centrist gets labelled a right wing fanatic. There's never any mature cross party or cross social debate on there. It's just a club.
I think once we get our midfielders back we’ll be fine. Currently without Caicedo, Gallagher, Enzo, Palmer and the new guy KDH.

Problem isn't too much the midfield tho - we lost our best CB and sold 1 who was doing ok. Our defence was the worst part today and most specifically our CBs, and the scary thing was.......those currently are our first choice CBs without much competition, correct me if I am wrong but we currently have just 4 CBs in the first team? And the only one we are missing is disaster, which doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.
Disasi was much improved and that nickname is dumb

I think if we get beaten badly in all our remaining pre season games there is an increased risk, but no certainty of starting badly in the PL due to a lack of belief and confidence.
