Got to say Nkunku is looking good in pre season. Nkunku, Jackson and Palmer should be the front 3. But I'm not sure how that works with Maresca preferring actual wingers (hugging the touchline) in those wide positions.

Whoever chose our extra difficult preseason fixtures knowing that we have a relatively inexperienced new manager trying to implement a totally new system with a bunch of new players needs a good hiding.

World Class last year? I must have missed that . Nick is right, pre season counts for zilch but that does not mean we should not be concerned about the quality of our squad, which for the most part compromises of far too many unknown quantities and absolutely zero leadership. Add the fact that it's being managed by a novice manager and I can't help feel anything but massive uncertainty, a tad curiosity but zero expectations.

Club in constant transition as we change managers every season. So the players we have are not all suited to the style of play the manager is trying to implement.

If Maresca is really our man, then they've gotta give him time to do his thing. It's not going to happen overnight, I'm guessing a season or two. However, it feels like the owners want instant success but in reality that's not going to happen.

Even more difficult to have that instant success when the majority of our signings are kids who are very much unknowns at this level.

My low expectations for the season predate preseason. Only hope is that Maresca is an inexplicable smash hit. Stranger things have happened.

Cucurella Is actually really good on the ball. It’s his one on one defending that’s rubbish.

Biggest losers in this formation/tactics will be an our RB’s who won’t be able to get forward as much.

Chilwell may as well find a new club.

He’s awful on the ball. Rash and always plays people under pressure. His one good attribute is when he pushes up to Nick the ball like kante use to do.

Cucurella passes the ball backwards 9/10 times. When he has to play it forward he loses it bar the assist against England strangely enough.

But he consistently has the ball under no pressure, has to turn and plays it infield, usually to a player under pressure.

Caicedo was fine playing for a possession based team at Brighton. And Lavia is excellent. And even though I’m not a big Sterling fan, he did perfectly well at Man City.

It’s really just our central defenders who are the issue when trying to play possession football.I don’t know why we haven’t prioritized bringing in a good defender to replace Silva. I’m hoping we are still looking at Murillo.

Hoping we’ll get a look at Jorgensen next game. By the way, dhow do you pronounce his name - is it a soft or hard G?

Lavia. Way too early to say. Brighton are known for being a bit suicidal with their playing out. Can’t recall watching much of caicedo but having watch 40 odd
Games for us he’s not great on the ball. Sterling is really bad technically. Mudryk and Jackson the same.

It’s just not our players game so don’t know how it’s going to work.
