Ok what about Raumdeuter? Sounds like some kind of illegal activity

Coined for Thomas Muller, means 'space investigator' in German. I first heard it on Tifo.
It's those wingers who are all about aggressive movement to the point where they could be considered a second striker from the wing.

Enzo was mostly fine at weekend, he had two crap corners and a scuffed pass in a 10 min horror show second half but I thought he was pretty good vs Brighton and was decent in other games this season. Certainly not a priority problem for me
posted 1 week, 3 days ago
I thought Raumdeuter meant someone who drifted centrally into positions - like Muller or (when he was good) Dele Alli — and was barely involved with the ball. Another would be Havertz.
posted 1 week, 3 days ago
Not by my understanding. Hazard came deep for the ball, then turned & cut inside with it. It's like he was a standard inside winger/forward but with a few playmaking characteristics.
Salah is a lot closer as he usually gets the ball higher up, but he runs at the defence a lot more than getting the last pass behind it. Sterling at City maybe but he was positioned too wide.
It's quite niche. Muller certainly & Pedro at Barcelona are the only two players who I can think of that fit what I perceive it to be.

Yep although I associate it with more offensive intent. A wide player who drifts into the half space in front of the defence would be something else in my head.

Just looked up Segundo Volante's origin, it's actually as old as Thunderball, I was wrong.
Volante is basically holding player in Portuguese (translation is steering wheel). Brazil's 1970 World Cup team was the first high profile use of a second holding player, Gerson, going forward to link up with attacking moves. Segundo is second in Portuguese, ergo Segundo Volante.
It's a box to box midfielder basically
