Troy Deeney Premier League team of the week
Cole Palmer (Chelsea): He scored a goal and although he didn't get the assist for the team's first it was an unreal pass for, as they say in America, an assist for the assist. It was a great ball and set them on their way. It just showed a level of class and when they take him off it looks like Chelsea at every single opportunity are going to lose the game. It gets so wide open, no control and he is probably getting frustrated at being brought off, but it was one of those games where he was excellent again.
WTF

Just say you don't watch Chelsea without saying you don't watch Chelsea. Not doubting Palmer is an amazingly talented individual and certainly gives an extra little bit of class when needed, but that 2nd half of that paragraph is about as good as the level of reffing in most prem games..........

3 left sided players in that back 4, balance is so weird

I was really surprised he played Gusto and James today. He must have had it in mind for a while because he played Cucurella for the entire game in Greece, so was unlikely to start him again at the weekend. Are Gusto and James his first choice full backs now then?
I hope not. Gusto offers nothing in this inverted role he's being forced to play.

And yet to see anything James is "back". Last couple of games has been very subdued (I am sure this is bringing him back more cautiously) and our starting FBs atm prob should be Cucu and Gusto

You're going to keep saying this until someone says this is a terrible idea because he'd have to run up and down the pitch even more than he does now.
yesterday for me was further proof of our evolution as a team.
Newcastle are a strong side with some very good players and despite some concerning defensive lapses and what can only be described as an amateur bordering on biased refereeing performance we came away with a victory .
Another game we would have lost last year.
par for the course would be for us to get turned over by united on Sunday but this is a completely different Chelsea team and i trust maresca to get it right on the day and am hoping that we wont give them the boost they need and instead put the final nail in ten bobs coffin
Cant agree mons buddy. Exactly the same as last year and had isak not been a greedy facker and james pulled off a crazy defensive header then we would have thrown the game again.
Palmer the difference again.
We have better players (jackson and cucu have imrpoved, lavia is now fit and sancho and neto are better than mudryk and madueke were last year) thats the only difference.
Agree about the ref though, my oh my lol
Ja arsenal fans doing a cringe % speedrun right now
that nkunku "foul" yesterday is boiling my blood
Happy Villa and Spurs slipped up for our top 4 hopes, but mixed feelings on other results. I am a bit concerned United and Arsenal have a lot of motivation to beat us .
United need to respond and we're a big enough team to motivate, and we still can't defend very well and will give them chances. Also, haven't seen us play well there for about 10 years.
Arsenal have to win to stay in title race and are better than us on paper.
Worst outcome has happened. Erik’s getting sacked

How often do we say this about the ref though ?? Way too much sadly. Feels like we have to beat the opposition as well as the ref in so many games just to get the win.
Now I am even more convinced we won't show up and Utd will win lol

Arsenal, Liverpool, Utd fans all believe there's a ref agenda against them - they're just sheite at that job, it's that simple.

Ha so typical. This happens so often just before teams face us. Swear that they use us as some kind of benchmark to make sure they get a fresh new manager for our games lol
Did feel they would sack him just before our game, brilliant.
I'm guessing Van Nistelrooy will get a nice free win against us

And that simply isn't good enough then. No way should we have this level of refereeing in the alleged best league in the world. I don't hear about these kind of recurringly poor levels of refereeing from La Liga, Serie A or the Bundesliga week in week out.
Something needs to be done because our referees are downright awful. It's probably time to get the best refs in from Europe and around the world. There's no good reason why all our refs need to be British. Our players and managers aren't.
