He's also been talking a lot about trying to get Felix and Palmer in one team. I think last night shows it doesn't really work as they just get in each others way.
Nkunku up front was just anonymous, he was better off playing Guiu there if he was resting Jackson
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah all good points. I've been one of Nkunku's biggest defenders but his goal record in the PL is trash. Ok he's not started many and never been given a run of games but it's still trash. All his goals have come in Europa and Cups.
We definitely need another striker unless we think Guiu at 18 years old is ready to play a bigger part.
Felix on the left definitely doesn't work. He's clearly a central player although he's not getting in ahead of Palmer of course. Just play actual wingers on the wing please, not Nkunku there either. Nkunku needs to leave really which is a shame as he's a very good player.
We're clearly still a work in progress despite the good run we've been in until late. Much work to do ahead.

Problem with Nkunku for me is he has already given up, and has no fight in him, looks a shadow of the player tearing it up in the US last year. Shame, as like you said there is a good player in there but the injury and ascent of Palmer seems to have really hurt him at the club

I’d feel more sympathy if he hadn’t abandoned Sporting during the season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah he jumped ship like a rat as soon as the first pretty lady fluttered her eyes at him lol.
--------------------------------------------------------
See I can't buy this, and it's why I'm struggling to know where I stand with Amorim. Man United right now are one of those girls that you can see should be a stunner, but decades of substance abuse have given her a rough, "well used" look that isn't attractive
Amorim's been pretty honest about the decision. I don't think he fooled for the old "I'll be the one to fix this", I do think he greatly sold himself short & took what he saw as the best opportunity he'd get to capitalize on his Sporting success - and, imo, he was dead wrong about that. It's purely an impression I got & we'll never know now, but I saw Sporting doing something memorable this season! Something that would've put him first in line to replace Pep either this year or next.

I agree, would definitely like to see that tried at least but Maresca has never really shown an appetite to incorporate Nkunku into his first team. Probably just have to accept that, move Nkunku on in Jan and replace him with a proper 9.

Yeah Amorim would probably have had his pick of any job this summer, especially after what was looking to be a really successful season at Sporting where it's not inconceivable they'd have got to a CL semi or even better.

I just think it's fundamentally unrealistic for any manager to transform United this season. Maybe I am wrong and Amorim will be like Rangnick but my suspicion is he will be given next season as long as they get back to midtable/top half and aren't a total shambles until May.

I'm not, I think he's likely a top manager who's just made an awful decision joining a club that's in desperate need of a total overhaul on every conceivable level.
Apparently Amorim has only had four full training sessions with these players so far which if true is a short amount of time to try and get your philosophy and training methods into the players.
Having said that he's definitely been given an easy ride by the media so far but presumably that won't last if he doesn't start getting results.

Not wanting to scapegoat Disaster for the Ipswich defeat but I only want to see his name on the team sheet again if it's at CB and if there are absolutely no other CB's available to pick from. That's the only scenario I could justify picking this guy.

I know it's not his team or anything but United have gotten worse since he arrived.
Like usually there's like a manager bounce and the team starts to perform better. It's just been more of the same, if not worse.
He's very much sticking by his principles, formation and tactics but it's had no impact.

I just don't see what anyone else expected apart from this. The 'Amorim has made a big mistake, lol what a disaster' take is funny and seeing United crumble is great fun, but I just doubt he was brought in to fix this season. He's there to, presumably, completely clear the decks and change the club and that's going to take a lot of time.

Thought there might be an uplift in performance to begin with.
I don't see it as a mistake in terms of him taking the job, it's probably one of biggest jobs in football, never going was going to turn it down.
Minimum 2 years is what he'll probably need, whether he'll get that is a different story altogether.
