i didn't think carrick was very good at all, can't remember him ever looking comfortable on the ball and never really passed it forward properly
--------------------------------------------------------------------
You must have been watching a different game. Either that or you're one of the many who still don't appreciate Carrick's job. To spell it out his job is to provide support to the central defenders and shield them from attackers, to receive the ball at every possible opportunity, to retain the ball, and then to give the ball to another player and make himself available again.
Last night he did all of the above when others didn't City's forwards and midfield were tireless and never gave Scholes or Carrick a second on the ball. Despite this neither Carrick or Scholes ever paniced, they kept hold of the ball and passed it round like the professionals they are. Unfortunately we have absolutely nothing going forward so passing forward was never going to be something they would stand out for last night.
Apart from that, Scholes, Carrick and Rio had very good games.

Well he can't apparently. He is a crab who can only pass sideways properly.
Hippo, maybe you should ask yourself, why is it that Carrick is constantly in the starting 11 when fit and hardly ever taken off when picked? He does what he was bought to do. No flicks'n tricks - just to protect our back four, which he did very well yesterday.

This.
What's a good game for Carrick then? When he skins the Man City defence and puts it in the top corner? Every player has a role in the team and Carrick and Scholes forefilled theirs yesterday under immense pressure. Our back four never got swamped or overrun because they did their job well. People seem to forget we lost by one goal because a young defender lost his man and a young keeper can't deal with corners effectively.
sometimes I think that some fans wont rate a player unless he dribbles the ball and nutmegs every defender in front of him, rounds the goalie, traps the ball on the goal line and bends down and heads it into the net. Like we dreamt of doing in the school yard.
How about Park for wearing his ice skates yet again - slipping and sliding all over the gaff,

Carrick got owned by Yaya Toure

Course he did. That's why we lost four nil and Toure scored a hat trick.
Quit making things up please carrickature. Mr Chelsea what an excellent point
He dominated him in midfield you idiot. Did you not watch the game?
I don't think he watched it. He mustn't have if he thought they got beat 4-0.
We all got to see that pretty little blondie from the City end again.
Which one? THe oldish one?
She's probably mid 30s Andy. Always there for the Utd/City games. Same seat, every time. Blondie

I think Carrick and Scholes did a very good job, when we were defending nothing really came through the middle.
The one thing Carrick didn't do was nullify Toure's bursting runs, but I am yet to find a man in football who has stopped this threat.
Carrick had a good game on the whole; Scholes played pretty well but struggled to really influence the game.
Nasri and Toure tore us apart at times. There was one point in the first half when Nasri skipped past Evra, Giggs and Scholes (might've been Ferdinand). They were all a little slow to react.

If City had Scholes in Barry's place, they'd of been 2 or 3 up at half time.
We gave Nasri way too much space the other night, making him look better than he actually is.

Wasn't it strange, we just camped in our half and didn't press at all. I still don't get it.

They probably would. I don't think Scholes had a bad game, I'm not slating him. He retained possession very well and got us out of a lot of tricky spots in our defensive third, I just don't think he was able to influence the game quite as well as he usually would.
