Pools recent record of trophies is atrocious there's no two ways about it.
==================================
So, our recent trophies, lets say over the last 7 years, has included, the Champions League trophy, the FA Cup trophy, and the Carling Cup trophy, which equals, atrocious.
So what does that make arsenals record then. Obviously not atrocious, so what adjective would you use to describe arsenals recent record of trophies ?
Thank God we have a new Head of Communication's.
Hopefully part of his remit will be to help important figures in the club form putting their foot in it by coming out with stuff like this. I perfectly understand that the CL is vitally important in order to maintain long term success and financial stability.
However, by inferring that trophy success is of secondary importance and hinting that the new owners will continue to follow the Chelsea route of hiring and firing managers, if they fall bellow their required standard is not what I expect coming out of Anfield.
Basically, if our new manager (whoever that may be) gets of to a sticky start. If he our points tally 'falls beneath the expected measurements' should we the fans expect yet another sacking?
We need an appointment for the long-term and the new owners and the fans should be patient and give the new man time. I'm sure the sensible among us will, recognise that sacking managers costs the club money in the long-term and undermines our chances of stability.
Your recent record is atrocious, same as ours
==================================
If you have to spin it that badly to make your point you're not doing too good are you?
Pools recent record of trophies is atrocious there's no two ways about it.
----------------------
I'm not one to wum, but the following are facts. Since Arsenal last won a trophy, Liverpool have won an FA Cup, a Carling Cup and a European Cup.
Whatever way you want to spin it, we've had a better trophy haul that you in recent years. Is that atrocious then what word do you use to decribe Arsenal.
He says doing well in the cup and badly in the league is not good enough, they want both. What is wrong with that? This site is full of idiots.
================
Totally agree with this. People are just trying yo find ways to criticise the owners. Ayre was saying winning yhese trophies are not enough as it wouldn't bring long term success. They want trophies as competitions that would lead to long term success and self sustainability.
Yes our trophy record has been atrocious.
Your trophy records has been atrocious.
Difference is our clubs position has been strengthening
Yours has been weakening
The fact that someone had to even bring our trophy record into this discussion shows how desperate you are to negate your own shortcomings.
Get it into your heads guys, Arsenals performance has nothing to do with your performance.

Thats convenient.
Look, run along, your just making yourself look silly.
jloo, you have no manager and finished on 52 points
I look silly?
And the likes of fa/carling cup should secondary. Our priority, like other teams, should be the league.
jloo, you have no manager and finished on 52 points
I look silly?
============================
Yes, you do.
You come on to lament liverpools failings, in the league, and as regards winning trophies.
When its pointed out to you, that since your club won anything, we have been European champions, and won the other two domestic trophies, you tell us what arsenal do, has nothing to do, with what liverpool do.
Listen to yourself.
We may not have a manager, but we have something tangible to show for a season of football, and we are not approaching a decade without any kind of success.
CL spot > domestic cups
FACT
You come on to lament liverpools failings, in the league, and as regards winning trophies.
---
Yes, and that's valid, comparing yourselves to Arsenal does not make it any less valid
--
We may not have a manager, but we have something tangible to show for a season of football, and we are not approaching a decade without any kind of success.
---
Ah your "tangible" thing, the carling cup. As opposed to our "tangible" thing, 35m of CL prize money.
The irony being, if your manager had achieved the latter he'd still be here
Oh I see "narrowly missing" counts now does it? But not when it's Arsenal
--------------------------
No it doesn't but it proves conclusively that we can get to the later stages of a competition which is something that Arsenal haven't done for a while and which is a strict requirement of winning trophies. I'm still suspecting that there may be a flaw in the logic of your claim that Arsenal are more likely to win trophies when recent fact suggests otherwise
Arsenal's sole aim at the moment is CL qualfication. This is a by-product of a push for the PL but realistically there is very slim chance that you will win either of those competitions. Based on the evidence of the season just finished a somewhat lesser chance than we have of winning a trophy.
FSB
We have money
You don't
Therefore our chances of winning a trophy are far greater than yours.
If this wasn't the case then explain the curious case of Manchester City and Chelsea, by your logic they shouldn't have won any trophies because of their past record.
Yes our trophy record has been atrocious.
Your trophy records has been atrocious.
--------------------------
No, no, no, you don't seem to get a very simple thing. Since you last won something 7 years ago, we have 3 trophies including the biggest price in Europe. The last 3 years have been poor, but we've still won 1 trophy this season and got into a another final.
You are atrocious, we've done ok. In the last 7 years, i.e. since you last won something, we've won 3 trophies and have been in in 3 other finals.
Why 7 years, why not 6, 3 or 20?
The fact you even have to pick a particular timeframe suggests that your just trying to delude yourself.
Just face facts without that CL money you are going nowhere, and with it we have a better chance of going somewhere than you.
Ah your "tangible" thing, the carling cup. As opposed to our "tangible" thing, 35m of CL prize money.
======================================
You have been getting champions league money for the last 7 years, and what have you got to show for it ?
Im sure when you sit your grand children on your knee many years from now, and wistfully recount tales of increased revenue, and qualification, they will be enthralled by such stories.
Or maybe, and more probably, your grandchildren will turn to you and say 'but grandad, what trophies did we win ?', and you can look at them knowingly, and say, 'ah bless you, footballs not about trophies dear child', 'its about champions league football, and increased revenue streams, brought to you by Ford, and Playstation champions league sponsors'.
Your grandchild will turn to you, look you in the eye, and say, 'grandad, what a complete t!t you are'.
Having money does not bring success. Spending it does.
QPR are partly owned by a man who makes Ambramovic look like a pauper but he doesn't spend his money on the club. Check out their respective league positions to see the difference between having and spending
Having money does not bring success. Spending it does.
--
Which is why finishing in the top 4 every year when you've got the 5th largest budget is excellent.
As opposed to finishing 8th when your budget is significantly larger.
Yet you and the deluded jloo just think the carling cup is an achievement. You ought to be glad that your MD has his head screwed on.
Your grandchild will turn to you, look you in the eye, and say, 'grandad, what a complete t!t you are'.

Funny really. The way you're going you'll be in division two by the time your grandchildren are grown up
Still, at least you'll have a carling cup story to tell...
Yet you and the deluded jloo just think the carling cup is an achievement.
========================================
It is an achievement. Thats what football is about, achieving things, accolades, trophies.
Winning domestic trophies, dosent have to exclude qualifying for the champions league.
I think the time scale was determined by the last time you won a trophy.
Go back 1 year we have won more, go back 2 years we have won more, go back 3 years we have won more, go back 4 years we have won more, go back 5 years we have won more, go back to the start we have won more, do you get the pattern emerging?
Funny really. The way you're going you'll be in division two by the time your grandchildren are grown up
=======================================
And when we gain promotion, and win the division two trophy, we will have achieved something again.
