I look forward to a reply!
He'd probably reply that signing players from Scotland carries it's own risks in terms of them moving a long(ish) way from home and playing at a different pace/standard.
He'd also say that signing Bryson & Maguire for combined fees totalling <£1m still represents excellent value.
He'd probably also say that he's sick and tired of being expected to explain each and every decision he makes to the odd disaffected supporter he comes across.
Hardly the odd disaffected supporter Marco, im sure there plenty asking thej same question, but hey why bother whilst you and your little click seem to know all and anyone dare question otherwise gets it shoved down their throats.
Putting Maguire on the transfer list is not something that Clough would do without a good reason. After all it is an admission of a lack of judgement on Clough's behalf. It is a risk that you take when dealing in the bargain basement, you have to expect that some transfers wont work out.
Out of the money spent in Scotland last year we had one success and one failure. The growth in value of the success more than compensates for the drop in value of the failure so I expect Nigel will just take the failure of Maguire to live up to expectations as a risk worth taking.
it's because he's a disruptive influence on the younger players.
something about either getting one...or trying to get a tattoo for a youth player.
he goes to the casino until the early hours...which is his business.
it seems he has an attitude problem, apparently.
Im not Spartacus.....But how can you say that Chris Maguire was given a fair chance when he only played two games for the first team....surely Nigel Clough as manager can explain to the fans his reason behind the decision.
Oh yeah, that old chestnut again, how can he be deemed a failure when he hasn't played, id rather see failure with my own eyes if its all the same thanks.
What's all this carp about fair chance. every player has a fair chance and the first chance is on the training ground to impress the boss. If you fail on this you are unlikely to be considered for the first team.
With all due respect Igor it is not for you to judge, the manager is paid to make the decision on whose name goes on the team list.
Im not Spartacus.....Then why did Nigel Clough spend 400,000 pounds on signing Chris Maguire if he thought he was crap.
hey why bother whilst you and your little click seem to know all

hey, hey it's not THAT little
Oh, you said little click...

It's called looking at things logically and using your brain IGOR, you should try it sometime
ps. What IS a click?
Its well rumoured that he's not a player Clougg wanted in the first place, so I think what Tsar is asking for is reasonable, and will put any debate to bed.
The lad has talent and we know he can play at this level, so why not ask the motivation for transfer listing, with all due respect.

Did I say click ah well you knew what I meant.
Im not spartacus, you have all this on good authority have ya, your guessing just like everyone else.
"We know he can play at this level"
Do we? Based on what evidence?
If we're allowed to judge on so small a number of minutes on the pitch I could "know" that Croft was in fact able to play full-back at this level, and that Teale was 2nd only to Bale in the wide left position.
Unfortunately we also watched enough carp from those two to understand that the good bits were flashes in the pan. With Maguire we don't have enough evidence yet.
Im not Spartacus.....so if Nigel Clough bought Maguire for 400,000 pounds and now decides after two games the player is not good enough, would you not expect the manager to have at least given him a few more games especially more than two, so as to try to prove himself so he could at least try to recover the money paid out for Maguire in the first place.... or do we let our manager just waste money for the sake of it.
Oh my god, based on the evidence of scoring 4 or 5 goals for Pompey in a handful of games, but maybe we didn't buy him for goals.
At least it's something for you to moan about anyway
TSAR no. Maguire had to earn the right to play in the manager's eyes, not just be played just because he is there.
It is for the owners of the club to say whether the manager has been wasteful with money. Clough would have wanted Maguire to be a success but buying players is a risk business. A few failures for moderately priced players wont usually get you the sack. A few failures for mega bucks players like the ones Dalgliesh signed at Liverpool will get you the sack.
Absolutely, make ya wonder though weather the exodus of Green and Davies is all as kosher as is being spun?
Igor, why do you see conspiracies about players leaving the club. Maguire scored three not 4 or 5 goals. Not a bad return and better than Tyson achieved. I would have thought that was sufficient to earn him a chance next season but obviously the manager thinks differently and he is in a better position than me.
