Modric for our midfield?

I'd spend 25m on him, anything over that and we're getting mugged off.

P.S. The spam filter wasn't letting me post the link so I had to edit it.

If SAF actually tries to spend 30 million on Modric, then I hope the Glazers tell him the money isn't available.

£30million no. £20-25million is the highest.

Not gonna happen

Hasn't he siad he doesn't want to leave London?

Levy wouldn't let him go to Chelsea last season and he has since signed a new conract.

No reason for Levy to do a U-turn this summer and suddenly let him go

Hope not.
20mil at the most.

I agree with most of you that the source is iffy, but I was curious as to what people would say to us bidding for him.
Modric seems to be a player who tends to divide opinion on this board, some believe he'd be a waste of money whilst others can't speak highly enough of him.

Personally I can't see him moving to us for £25m or less, and I think I would prefer a more defensive minded center-mid e.g. Strootman.

If Utd feel he's worth 30 million and can afford that then the money is not any of my concern.

Modric is a top player (slightly overrated) but still a very good and sometimes excellent player.

I don't think this will happen but i wouldn't object to him signing.

I am a fan of Modric I really like the way he plays but I wouldn't want to pay £30m for him far too much.

I would rather us spend money on Javi Garcia he wouldn't cost much and we don't know whats happening with Fletcher. We have Carrick and Scholes for now maybe bring in a cheaper younger player who can play in the deep playmaker role.

He's 27 as well isn't he? That's a bit too old for what we usually buy, someone said yesterday we've only bought one player over 27 in the last 15 years and it was Berbatov.

That's fair enough, but the money isn't really any of our concern. The club know more about their finances than we do, and if they feel they can afford 30 million then so be it.

It would show the club has ambition to stay at the top and would send message out to rivals.

Would prefer a player like Fellaini, much more low profile. cheaper, younger, better looking.

Greg Fellani is one of my ideal players

Martinez for me if we are spending that much! Still not gone to Barca or Madrid

posted on 31/5/12

Martinez will end up at Bayern, his agent said he's in talks with them. They need someone like him, their defence is shocking.

I'd love us signing him, he's quality and exactly what we need.

Martinez is great but we won't get him, like you said he will prob go Madrid or Barca (not that they need him)

posted on 31/5/12

But so is our midfield. Germany seems an odd place for a young Spaniard to go. Especially one of his quality.

Ozils, Martinez wants to be a center back not a midfielder. He said that's where he wants to play in his career. That's why I said Bayern need him for their defence as it's pretty shocking.

I know the money isn't our concern but I think that is too much for me and I would rather us look to spend the money more wisely then risk it on one player.

Man Utd do have ambition and it don't just come formbuying big names, the hunger of our manager to produce and challenge year after year the hunger in our players. I would rather United win the title to show ambition rather then spending massively because we can't afford to match City so we should stick to doing what we do best win.

P.S How do I quote on here or is it like the old 606?
