French Open Mens Semi - Final

We shouldn't forget how good Federer is at the French Open, getting to 5 of the last 6 finals only to be defeated by Nadal each time. He would have made a 6th had it not been for Nadal beating him in the semi of 2005. Take out Nadal and we'd be talking about Federer being as good as Borg on clay. In fact you could probably make a case for him being better already.

Currently I live on the US East Coast (hence my ability to see the USO rather than the other slams) but I grew up in Europe (hence my fondness for clay and grass tennis in spring and early summer).

I said that the debate on the thread was not vacuous but I did not say it would be worth reading through all of it

I think a good enough read is the ESPN study itself - it will at least give you an idea where the people who think the draws are being rigged are coming from:

Agree about Federer on Clay - a fact that often gets overlooked - if it hadn't been for Nadal, he would have had at least 4 FO's IMO and can certainly be counted up there with Borg on this surface.

Unfortunately for him, he has been beaten each time by the best player to ever play on this surface.

Cheers Summer, if you ever make it to England let me know, you're welcome to have a hit at our little grass court club:

Not quite Wimbledon, but beautiful surroundings and a bounce as predictable as what's going to happen next for the Eurozone economy!

Oh thanks Jonty that looks so nice with real grass.

Better not think about the economy in Europe, all I hear here these days seems to be bad news.

At least there is tennis to be played...hopefully today.

And what would a thread be without Tenez's ridiculous comments alluding to Rafa taking something illegal. Oh so predictable and oh so boring.

Could you please elaborate as what part of match did you find interesting? I did not watch the match, only the end of it and it was the worst kind of grand slam semifinal tennis.

It's a nice venue, friendly club, and we have tea and cakes in deck chairs on Saturday evenings after tennis

I've managed to make a few spare hours to watch the match and it's delayed

Well yes same here. I am taking a day off work. I am a Federer fan but I am perfectly prepared to see him destroyed today and will be happy just to see him play. But I do want to see some tennis!

It would have to start at the same time as the footy wouldn't it.

Federer won the toss and did not choose to serve. How rare is that?

Just got home and have a few seconds before the birthday dinner is to be enjoyed

Only seen the score and see that Rafa Nadull has absolutely murdered him with his defensive boring moonballing tennis
How brutal was it?

Go and enjoy your fish and reindeer!

Very brutal, no mercy, even those their friends.
Fed Novak both serving well so far.

lol Jonty, will do mate and enjoy this second game which was always going to be the more interesting one today

Thanks Sport and please report a Federer win when I get back

Nadal v Federer is all about the big boys. 26 grandslam titles between them and let them fight out the 27th. Djokovic has 5 and the others have about 1 between them. Seems almost silly in comparison.

Vamos Rafa and Kom igjen Roger

really hard to call this one.

No suprises re Nadal - the ease of it slightly suprised me, especially in the 1st Set.

Can't see either of these 2 gettinig close to him on this form.

Neither did i. His FH working well.

The thing is I do not think Fed can do this for three straight sets.

Break-back point.

How did he hit the court before the net!

posted on 8/6/12

Fed is spraying it now a bit. Djoko looks steady enough, definitely better than against Seppi (did not see Tsonga match).

Very aggressive from Fed.
