Whereas before winning games from winning position were foregone conclusions for Fed, he puts us through a roller coaster these days!

Fed has by far the most beautiful tennis I've ever watched.

Yes I can see what you mean. It's probably my choice too.

However, Ramej Krishnan and McEnroe, are not far behind though it was much easier for them to look good than it is today. I also loved Medvedev game when in full control. That was power, flat hitting at its best.

BTW, 25 UEs for a set and a half is pretty high even for Federer!

If this set slips out of Fed's grasp then very hard to see him turning this around.

Fed serves 4 the set.

Nothing unusual in seeing lose his serve twice to love?
-----------------
Scoreboard does not matter, it depends on how they get there.

More importantly, you said before the match it would be Fed's *return* games where it would be obvious he was struggling. If anything, he is having more success than ever there.

I like both players, but come on fed!

Nobody want 2 win thee 2nd set, this will hurt Fed if he loses this set.

Yes and I am surprised by this too...but it's clear the reason is that the wind takes a lot of the serve out for both players and it helps the returners.

I want Fed to lose minimum energy at this rubbish RG. Nole and Nadal will slug each other out on Sunday and Fed can make his charge at Wimby.

Novak take 2nd set 7-5, crazy set, 7 breaks of serve.

He was up 3:0 with a double break, and had a break point for 5:2 to again go up a double break, yet he loses the set.

On one hand he is keeping it closer than I expected on the other hand it is quite disappointing.

Federer was close to unbreakable from USO till Dubai. Now he loses his serve on almost any occasion....but still some don;t see or think there is anything wrong.

Last year Fed won in 4 an unbeatable Djoko, this year he will lose in 3 versus a very beatable Djoko.

Is this a serious statement or does it just come out of disappointment of how things have been going?

I know he would lose in the final yet I am rooting for him all the way today. Pretty disappointing given he was up a break in the first set and up two breaks in the second.

That's it for me. I've seen grinding tennis a little too much lately. Still think it's unacceptable what they did to the babolat ball

Will pick up some tennis when it gets interesting again.

Do not like this type of argument. If you go by the scoreboard than of course you will chalk bad performances down to injuries. It is almost like saying that he can only do poorly if he is injured. Have seen a lot of those types of comments over the years from various quarters, but certainly not my cup of tea.

Also, this is RG, so you do get broken more. And finally, while he gets broken more than usual, he also breaks the opponent more than usual.

I can do about 90 more minutes of tennis watching today so if it is a glorious come-back-from-two-sets-to-love-down victory, I will have to miss it.

On the other hand, if it is done is straight sets, I will likely get to see it all.

So if it is happy, I will not get to see it, if it is not, I will see it all.

I mentioned this earlier on but this is the inevitability of age and decline. he cam back after DP's legs went but I fearhe won't be getting out of jail today.

The Great Man can do it over best of three but just doesn't have the consistency and concentration to do it over 5.

He comes and goes in bursts of quality but cant produce it on a sustained basis. Its a bit sad to see but it happened to all the best and it will happen to Nadal in Djoko in time.

In a way, I am glad as Nadal would have taken him to the cleaners. Djoko will have to raise his game to even live with Rafa on Sunday

Never seen so many UEs from Federer, looking at his face, losing confidence, I feel sorry for him. Many balls too long, and een some hits the frame and some to the sky, like an amateurish ones. What happen to him.

Good luck in wimbledon

Earl,

I am not so sure about what you say on Rafa vs Nole. Rafa is great on clay, but he has always been. Take out his matches against Nole last year and he did not look much worse than this year.

I still think that if Nole plays as well as last year (and he is not so far today) he will have better than even chance on Sunday.

Oh well.

Well done Nole, congratulations
Great match also thanks to Roger.
He played better and better closer getting to the end, so he has a game to win it. Nole is really great personality and pleasure to watch
