Nan, like Wigan? Only had 8 English players in their squad last season and none were regular starters.
Blackburn only had 3 or 4 Englishmen in their matchday squads.
Etc Etc. It would effect every team...
Hang on, Nan Bread. How do Giggs and Evans help England? The article is about how it will benefit England.
If you are including homegrown then it is even more pointless.
I could easily mention 10 English players for United:
Amos, Jones, Rio, Smalling, Fryers, Young, Cleverley, Scholes, Welbeck, Rooney
All but Fryers and Amos could easily count themselves as first team players.
Oh, and if Terry and Lampard are getting on what are Giggs, Scholes and Ferdinand?
You named only 9, 2 were not English and 3 older than Terry and Lampard.
I think if Chelsea will be affected so will United...
Well then I'll name drop too
terry
cole
lampard
sturridge
bertrand
mceachran
turnbull
blackman
hutchinson
chalobah
feruz(if he joins the scottish team)
crisis over
now we just have to focus on when:
mourinho leaves
roman gets bored
ffp
the old guard leave
the luck runs out in the cl
chelsea win the cl and therefore roman leaves through boredom
Chelsea fans could name 10 English players for them...
terry
cole
lampard
sturridge
bertrand
mceachran
turnbull
blackman
hutchinson

how many would play? least uniteds play
We've got the philosophy wrong as well as our approach to football.
It's all about the last ditch tackle,s the huffing and puffing, the heart and all that stuff.
That's why people like James milner and Scott Parker are footballers.
Anywhere else, they wouldn't be.
We need a coachign system that promotes skill and ability on the ball. That will create talented english men and not donkeys like Carroll.
How many English players are sought after abroad? That tells you all you need to know
ffp will end the owner's club who helped to write them
3, maybe 4 would play out of those players you just mentioned.

THAT IS THE GREATEST COMMENT IN JA606 HISTORY
and how many of your english players would regularly start as a first team player and not just as a squad player?
rooney, rio, young, welbeck and perhaps cleverly if kagawa doesn't displace him
But who has the most english players really doesn't matter considering the squad we have sent to the euros probably wouldn't even finish in the europa league places where as the spanish squad could easily win the league. There is no need for a sly dig at chelsea when the fact is the rules would effect the squads of every team.
The general assumption in your article is that International football is the elite of the game and club football should be set up to ultimately improve that elite game. I feel club football is the elite of the game, and anything that damages that is bad, especially if it means artificially diluting the quality of players in club teams we see every week to try and improve the quality in tournaments every 2-4 years for a handful of games at most.
Btw I also don't see how this rule makes English players cheaper? Surely if you are forcing teams to include English players rather than no quota then the prices of those players will go up!
England have enough quality players (some of them are young players as well) to be a strong side.
The biggest problem is the coaches who pick the wrong players and wrong tactics.
Rubbish asrticle. There should not be any constraints on who plays club football. English players need to be better, then they will play more
For the long term future of the National team and the development of (young) English talent, then a slow down of overseas players playing in the PL needs to be looked at.
then a slow down of overseas players playing in the PL needs to be looked at
===========
Why? All the top teams have a fair number of young English players getting a fair amount of games.
Playing players because of their nationality rather than ability does not make for a better national team, moreso a worse national league.
Co's i never want to see another team like Arsenal field a none English player team again, that's why!
Then English players need to learn how to control a football and use it wisely. Hoofball is archaic.
The only way they can learn it is from foreigners as our coaches have no clue about technique.

Not to add Carrick and possibly Powell to that list!
---------------Amos
Jones----Smalling----Rio----Fryers
----Cleverley---Carrick---Scholes
Young------Welbeck-------Rooney
A full English XI, would easily compete for the top 4, all these players bar Fryers and Amos are first team players.
IMO This is what the England squad needs to be modelled on, a United side with a winning-mentality, a United side who play good football and score goals.
This, (bar Scholes and Rio) would be a youthful team, capable of playing for years....
Yet we are stuck with the base on Liverpool and umpteen donkey's in the squad....
I can dream
