He won't be top scorer when Gomez scores tonight...

He is however - a Prima Donna who wanted all the limelight at the end of the pen shoot-out

Now he's just 'out'

Are you Ronaldo fanboy?

Fabregas hasn't been branded a bottler because he scored his. Simples.

I wish that the opposition fans would realise that Ronaldo does not play for United any more and stop posting this endless articles about him. We are not interested!

I just find it funny that only one of them can be a good footballer.

They've both had record breaking seasons...

I wish United fans would realise Ronaldo doesn't play for them so stop talking about him as if he still does.

Ronaldo didnt take on earlier because he's mised his last 2 in important pen shootouts.

With his teammate Casillas in goal, his chances of missing were also greatly increased

Why offer to take one if he doesnt feel confident of converting? The lieks of Torres, Rooney (up until 2 years ago), Higuain etc. all shies/shied away from taking pens ever....jsut saying.

Fair comment smalling

However - he is the kingpin in the side & needs to step up & man up

The fact is that while Ronaldo is a fantastic footballer – he is an idiot.

The sole reason why he was up last in the penalty competition was to facilitate his ego.

Nothing to do with his manager asking him to take the 5th pen then!!!

I love your articles Fatman

I agree with much of what you say but point 3 ‘The 5th penalty in a shoot out is more often than not decisive’ is not a good one.
It may well be but it doesn’t make any of the previous penalties less relevant. In a relay where positions can chance and each part of the team will run (exceptional circumstances asides) there is a point to holding back your stronger running, in penalties it doesn’t make much sense. You may well have already lost and your best penalty taken doesn’t get to take a penalty, where is the sense in that?

He may well have but Ronaldo could've easily taken any of the pens if he genuienly wanted to

Personally, i dont blame him. Taking a pen against Casillas who trains with him everyday on the back of missing 3 of his 4 pens.....hes only human

I forget now who took the 5th pen in the Champions League final

All I know is it can't possibly have been Drogba surely

you guys are wasting ur time discussing something as trivial as this, while Ronaldo is on some beach somewhere with some hot chick!
Pathetic !!!

On a separate note, how good was Nani's pen!

I rmeemebr he went top corner for us in the CL final and I tohught, no way does he have the bottle to repeat that featyet he did

Having watched these Euroes, we would be the biggest idiots if we got rid of Nani and made Young our first choice winger

Young has looked compeltely out of his depth whereas Nani has been the second ebst winger in the tournament

Unless anyone was there no-one knows what was discussed between the penalty takers.

However my understanding is that the coach will already have five 'pre-selected' penalty takers, and should a penalty competition ensue the five individuals are asked their preferred position in the five.

After the five then it’s volunteers.

Cannot think of any other reason (other than Ronaldo’s ego) why he would want to take the fifth penalty, as there could be a chance that he may not even take one.

He is Portugal’s and Madrid’s usual penalty taker so if I was the manager I would want my best penalty taker (your banker) in the first three.
