All these exits and Jenas is still here. It feels like he's signed a 40 year contract.
Modric will go i think. And if AVB does get apointed, they'll all want out by Xmas.
oh no. fridge has started me off. i can feel a jenas argument coming on.
the treatment by us as spurs fans of jenas is quite frankly a disgrace.
we scapegoat him.
the simple fact is that off the pitch, he is one of the most active players in all our charitable and community work, and a fine ambassador, he behaves himself.
on the pitch he is a reasonable premier league standard midfielder, who is about 5th choice cm for spurs, and is happy to do so, he is not on big wages and does not kick up a fuss.. if anyone can name me a better player to have has 5th choice cm than jenas, who wont kick up a fuss, then please let me know.
the only reason spurs fans are on his back so much is because when we signed him he had all the raw materials to go on and be a steven gerrard, and he never became that, and our fanbase hold that against him.
he has scored several important goals for us, but we treat him like sh111t.
he actually likes playing for spurs, but i have no idea why as we dont appreciate him at all
chicken. i think its time for you to snap our of your negativity and trust Levy.
the players will enjoy having a manager who actually gives a sheeet about the job he is doing, unlike redknapp for the last thirds of last season
Chronic,
Is there any room for sentiment though, just because of this? Is he worthy to be on the Spurs payroll just because he is content with being 5th choice CM?
I'm not anti-Jenas by the way, i'm only asking this in response to your post, as i'm curious for your view on it.
Chronic,

no there is no room for sentiment.
if we can get a good price for him then sell him.
the problem i have though is our own fans treating him like a piece of poo.
my argument is not that we should keep him, but that we should stop treating him as if he is just lingering around like a bad smell, when the truth is that he has been quite a good servant to us, despite the fans getting on his back every second he is on the pitch
Jenas is a loyal servant to spurs. he loves scoring against le filth we are always critical of ego maniacs like modric who publicly slate our club, but we as fans never seem to back those who continually promote our club in a good light. Yes there are better players but when fit jenas ain't all that bad
The point is that Jenas has barely registered as a pro in the last few years. We seemed happy to get shot of Kranjcar but we can't even let go of Jenas. it's almost like the top men at spurs have forgotten he even exists, they probably can't understand why they're a million down every year. I reckon even his family say "nice to meet you" when he pops round.
There's no such thing as a 5th or 6th choice central midfielder. If they're that far back, they're not in consideration. He's not been that bad by any means but i'm surprised he's become one of those players happy to pick up a wage without ever playing, current injury excused obviously.
Jenas on his day can be absolutely sublime, we just never saw enough of those days. Is a decent footballerwho deserves to be in thePremier League, depending how this injury has affected his fitness/ability.
the other problem was he could never boss a game, but a lotof that has to do with playing with someone as undisciplined as Zokora, he never knew who was covering or joining attack.
Hope whatever happens he does well, but with current squad is nowhere near starting team or even the bench.
I remember when we signed jenas , i asked a good mate of mine who is newcastle mad. " Is he any good "
He told me .. 1 game in 12 you will think he is world class and the other 11 games you wont know he is on the pitch"............ i think he got it spot on
Dont think he has ever recieved much abused on the pitch ?
" i think its time for you to snap our of your negativity and trust Levy. "
I like Levy played a massive part in our CL win last season
It's not all bad. We've signed Bale ...again.
Chronic well said about Jenas and AVB

I'm more concerned about the manager doing a good job, rather than him caring that he's absolutely cack.
Whats the point in him caring that he's cack, if we're doing cack.
And no, the players will not enjoy a manager who is cack, and is grinding out cack results.
In fact, they will think their time at Spurs is "cack". And i would have to agree with them.
Chicken
the problem i have with your argument is that you are looking at his time at chelsea in isloation, and ignoring the job he did at porto.
i can just as easily ignore the job at chelsea, and look at the job at porto.
you may argue that the chelsea job is more relevant as its more recent and in the prem,
i may argue that the porto job is more relevant, as the style of porto is more like the style of tottenham than chelsea.
at porto you have a good team that play attractive football and you have a couple of big players, but ultimately the manager is boss. same at spurs.
at chelsea you have a group of players used to playing a turgid dull effective style of football, and you have loudmouth s in the dressing room who run the show. at chelsea he was also there previously as a backroom man, so the players would have treated him as such, so he probably felt that he had to show them who is boss, so made bad man management errors.
he will firstly have learnt from them, and secondly he wont encounter that problem at spurs.
Chronic
His achievements at Porto are irrelevant to me, because Spurs dont play in Portugal. Whilst i'll pat him on the back there, he did nothing that special that the club hasn't done at least 14 other times in 20 years.
If he didnt play the Porto way at Chelsea, why would he play that way at Spurs? That doesnt make sense. He basically continued the Porto way after succeeding the previous manager, with the previous squad, after the previous manager previously won the league with that squad.
AVB has failed in the Prem, just like about (probably) 50+ other managers have, Why do you want this failed manager over any others?
And i keep saying, you cannot blame the Chelsea players & their egos, our squad also has some big egos, so if he cant handle them - what use is he for us?
He turned a solid defence into a backline that would make Jossy's Giants look world class. Why would you want this at Spurs?
Why dont you want another historic Porto manager who hasnt failed in the Prem, who has also won the title in his respective country? Or why not the manager of a club from Denmark, Poland or Kazakhstan, who has won the title in their own country?
Makes absolutely no sense to me.
It will be busy football wise- you will begin your European campaign away to Legia Warsaw in July
"in the dressing room who run the show."
Bit rich considering you have VDV who sulks and walks down the tunnel near enough every time he gets subbed.
Has the players revolt on AVB started yet?
david
Exactly.
Chelsea isnt the only club who has sulking players that will make AVB . Bless him though, he's only young .
chicken.
as i have said many times, AVB was given an unrealistic brief at chelsea, which he was silly to take on, and was silly to be given to him.
the general understanding is that he was required to fast track the "revolution" at chelsea (that many people including chelsea fans say should have happened over about 5 years) to start to move the older players on and bring through the youth, and to promote an open attractive style of playing.
he went about doing this, and chelsea if i am not mistaken won about 6 in their first 7 games last season?
the problems were when lampard and one or two others started getting more frequently left out they kicked up a big fuss, and the dressing room fell apart.. and it was all down hill from there.
now, the way he handled that situation, i admit was poor, but as i say he was given un unrealstic brief and the man who gave it to him didnt back his man at all, and sacked him.
overall AVB did a poor job at chelsea BUT, and you can correct me if im wrong at this, i think you will find that AVB's points per game record will not be too dis-similar to redknapps at spurs...
obviously redknapp will be over a longer period of time, but i am attempting to make a comparison.
the issue of chelsea playing a high line, well yes they did, high lines work when the rest of the team press the ball. arsenal used to play a high line with a slow defence, because the rest of the team were workhorses and did the job.
playing a high line (i.e. the offside trap) relies so much more on the back 4, it relies on midfield and striker work rate rushing opposition into playing a mistimed ball, and the striker can be caught offside.
the issue AVB should have addressed is because he had a team unwilling to work hard for him, he should have dropped the line back, but i am glad he didnt as it was funny watching the skumbag be shown up at centre back.
even if he plays a high line at spurs, we have a far quicker defence then chelsea
I wish i bookmarked all the articles off Spurs fans slagging AVB off now
david luiz, we slagged him off because he did a rubbish job at chelsea, and you were rubbish.
he deserved to be slagged off.
however, the players were a disgrace and it was them who got him sacked.
"the problems were when lampard and one or two others started getting more frequently left out they kicked up a big fuss"
RDM put Lampard, Drogba and especially Cole on the bench in more games than AVB did.
Chronic,
To compare win rates between AVB & Harry, we would have to compare like-for-like, ie. the same amount of games, in the same season. You cannot compare a win/loss rate 3 or 4 years before AVB even joined the league. And I’m sure, in fact I know, Harry’s is far better than AVB’s.
As for AVB’s first 7 games, he won 4, drew 2 & lost 1.
I can see you’re excusing AVB for some of the things that went wrong, but what did he actually do right?
I can also see from your next post that you contradict yourself by saying he did a rubbish job at Chelsea. Now regardless of what potential he may or may not have, why would you want a manager who did (in your own opinion) a rubbish job, for a rival team, in the league that we play in?
This is what i dont get. There are now obvious positives for appointing AVB, only masses of negatives.
david,
I wish i bookmarked all the articles off Spurs fans slagging AVB off now
