noooo......not attall.......that team was simply the best.....d current barca doesnt com close to that i dont think.......this current 1 are really scary though....makes you wonder how good they were!!!!!!!
I would say YES!
Simply because of Xavi and Iniesta. Class above other CMs that have played the game IMO.
The only thing that terrifies me about this Barcelona team is their constant diving and Messi, he a brill player
I have watched Barca since the 90s, on TV every week and at the Camp Nou. Used to think Rivaldo was amazing, then Ronaldinho would never be beaten, but then watching Messi, he surpassed Ronaldinho when he was about 20 and was the main reason for Ronaldinho leaving. Barca were probably best about half a year ago. They don't cope well with a long break without playing together, hence why Man Utd might get a lucky win in the final. Never thought Ronaldinho would be bettered. Imagine how good the player will be to better Messi. Possible?
Terrifying , NO . Good but hardly in the league of Milan in the 80's or Ajax in the 70's or Madrid in the early 60's .
This Barca side are great but the team with Ronaldinho well they were the team with HIM .
Like Pele , Best , Maradona , Cruyff and Zidane he just did things that most players would never even dream of , magical .
Anything is possible in football. There will be a player who betters Messi as well.
I guess Samuel Eto was on fire back then...But still, I don't see it that way in terms of accomplishments...
Remember in 2005, Barca record:
La Liga: got 1st (after a six year wait)
Copa del Rey Out @ Round of 16
Champions League Out @ Round of 16
Compare with 2011 so far!
I say this 2011 is better!
Ronaldinho was a far better player to watch than Messi. Would any sane person really disagree with this? Ronaldinho could do things with the ball that Messi would dream of but Messi is a much better stats players.
Messi is great but he is backed up by 2 of the best midfielders around , Messi can be stopped but not sure we have the player to do it .
Exactly U1545 Ronaldhino let you dream Messi doesn't .
Ronaldinho had amazing skill and effective tricks, not pointless ones like Ronaldo. He was one of the most 2 footed players of all time, but he was playing in the position that Messi plays now. Messi is about 10x more effective. Just a different style. I used to prefer watching Ronaldinho, but Messi just took football to a whole new level.
Sorry Messi is fantastic but another level NO .
Well Ronaldinho had Xavi and Iniesta as well, so why didn't he get 50 goals a season if it is mainly down to them? Messi pushed Ronaldinho out of the team when he was a teenager. It was him that said, when he won the WPOTY, that he wasn't even the best at the club. Even when Messi was 18. I have watched him every week since his debut, and Ronaldinho WAS my favourite player of all time, but Messi is more talented and already done more in his career. World cup aside.
Messi is a better team player but not a better player . Didn't Messi and Ronaldinho play in the same team at the same time .
Messi was in the Barca 2005 squad
Yes they did, but Messi was very young and out on the wing. The most obvious transition from Ronaldinho to Messi was in 2007 El Classico when Messi rescued Barca with a hatrick. They are totally different players and possibly shouldn't be compared, but Messi is definitely the better player for what they offer. This is my completely impartial opinion having watched every Barca game in the last 10 years.
Well I'll bow to you greater knowledge of Spanish football and Barcalona .
But on a personal level I'd rather watch Ronaldinho and you're right players shouldn't be compared .
Haha sorry to be patronising but,
"Well I'll bow to you greater knowledge of Spanish football and Barcalona . "
It's spelt "Barcelona".
Anyway, Ronaldinho, Messi and Henry in the same team. Incredible.
Well not at the same time but within a year
I wasn't being patronising maybe you were, sorry I hit the wrong key .
It's hard to compare one player to another from a different league let alone another era . If Messi has failed to live up to his reputation in the World Cup is this because of him , the national team , manager or league he plays in ?
Messi was a joy to watch at the world cup. Set up most of the goals and very unlucky not to score. Argentina have plenty of world class goalscorers. They still ran everything through Messi, just didn't rely on him to finish them off so much. The defence wasn't good enough to cope with Germany though. Will see what happens at Copa America. He managed to beat arch rivals Brazil on his own. There are no friendlies between those 2 clubs as well.
I personally enjoyed the performances of Forlan but that's just opinions .
I think though that Messi is still too young to judge maybe at the end of his time can he truly be rated amongst the greats or not whatever the case maybe .
Also he can only really be compared to players of his position how can anyone say he's a better player than say Beckenbauer .
Anyway it's been good talking to you but I have to get the kis up in the morning so better sign off .
I meant kids before you correct me .
Ronaldinho at his prime was absolute treat to watch, just like nowadays ronlaldo of madrid.his freekick was second only to beckham
