Sincere apologies GAWA, I meant Omagh not Derry. I have always passed Lisburn on my way to Belfast. Much like people pass Newtonabbey on there way into North Belfast.lulz.

I'm sure you told everyone one the old BBC 606 you were a Strabane man born and bred!!!!!

--------------------------------------------
Never heard of that place? but I live in Derry.
Well there wont be many Strabane men born and bred on this earth as the nearest hospital to Strabane is in Derry!!! But yeah I am from Strabane. Same way your from Belfast but live in Conlig am I correct?
GAWA- both routes are about the same time.
Think via omagh is an extra 20 miles or so. Isnt the route i take when i go up there with work.
Well if I'm driving to Belfast(not very often) I usually go the Omagh way, and most of the time I come home the Derry way as im usually in North Belfast visiting friends. Don't notice much time difference tbh.
You must be speeding in that tractor godfather!
Come on now, I'm no culchie, I'm a dyed in the wool townie. The dude on the other hand is as culchie as they come.
Haha couldnt help it godfather!
If u cant see the cranes from your house your a culchie! that my favourite one
"derry"????
Is that in that French place Eire where apparently you live!!!!
Nah its in the north west of Ireland. You know it well. 'London' Derry on the other hand ive no idea where that is sorry.
Its not even 15 miles from strabane godfather you have probably been:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=strabane+to+londonderry&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&biw=1600&bih=775&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl
Sorry GAWA its coming up 'error, did you mean Derry?' If your talking about Derry I know it well. London is in England is it not?
good try but no it didnt - i can check it you know.
sure Londonderry/Derry wouldn't exsist if it wasn't for London - Hence why it was given the name.
Actually Derry existed long before it was renamed LondonDerry. Why do you think it should be called LondonDerry when the vast majority of Derry people want it to be once again called Derry? And do you not think its comes across very English wannabeish by demanding it to be called after an English city? Genuine question.
it was renamed - correct
To be honest in IMO opinion i think it should be renamed to something that doesn't cause controversy - Foyle perhaps? You know people outside of this country think we are all nuts by the way - arguing over the name of a city?
No i dont think its English wannabe at all there are many other cities across the world which where named after English Cities - does that mean they are english wannabes?
Why not just name it back to its original name? there is nothing offensive, sectarian or bigoted about it. And you know alot of unionists living in Derry refer to it as Derry too.
Theres a difference between the cities and towns in America named after English cities in the New England areas, by English settlers who started a new life there, compared to the Derry problem. London was added on to Derry by those in London purely to divide the city and cause problems. I and many others believe its very English wannabe to start demanding it to be called LondonDerry at every opportunity.
Listen to Gregory Campbell, he never stops mentioning Londonderry. He over uses it and it seems like he is trying to provoke and insult nationalists in Derry. He is an embarrassment and im embarrassed to say I come from the same country as him.
Not to mention the name Londonderry it just odd. Imagine LondonGlasgow or LondonCardiff. Its just not right.
Because the argument will live on - scrap the whole thing and start again.
It wasn't changed to cause trouble - it was renamed as honor to livery companies from London who donated money to the city to rebuild it after it was destroyed by Cahir O'Doherty.
Other cities in the UK dont have the name because London didnt help to rebuild them.
Get over it Sodfather, you live in Londonderry whether you choose to recognise the name or not.
Gregory says tomato, you say tamata.
PS - Cahir O'Doherty - couldn't be an Orange bassa with a name like that. Must be one of yours
Sorry, forgot you don't live in Londonderry do you. But you sure do have a bee in your bonnet about Londonderry.
Londonderry
See GAWA, we were having a decent debate about the name and Failback comes on with the Gregory Campbell attitude, 'you live in LondonDerry whether you like it or not' Its that attitude that causes such bitterness about the name in the first place.
You may be right Gawa about why it was changed, but it was changed against he wishes of the majority. The way I see it is the vast majority of people in Derry would prefer it if was changed back, so it should be. If the majority wanted it to stay as Londonderry I would respect that too.
it think it still should be changed to something new for me - would avoid silly arguments, TV companies having to watch what they say, defacing road sign, etc. If it where changed back the argument would just be the same in reverse.
doesn't really matter who is in the majority or minority for me it causes problems so it should be weeded out for me. Plus it would send out a good message that the dark days are over and can be left in the past. in the same way i have no problems with having a new national anthem for the NI team.
"but it was changed against he wishes of the majority"
Was an opinion poll conducted in the 1600s to back up this statement or is this yet another Sodfather "fact"!
