Not in the champions' league... sold Mascherano, Aquilani, Torres & Alonso... and replaced them with Adam, Downing, Henderson & Carroll.

Arsenal supporters would happily go 500 years without a trophy than long as they have a solid balance sheet.

Looks like they're getting what they want

I've been having a debate with a couple l'pool fans mocking our 8 yrs trophy less streak and they were gloating that they have won the capital one cup

------------

Can I just point out though that in those 8 trophyless years, Liverpool have won the Champions League, FA Cup, Carling Cup, been in another Carling Cup final, another FA Cup final and another Champions league final and 3 times finished above you. In that 8 years you've had a Carling Cup final and a Champions league final, finishing above us 5 times.

Our last 3 years have been awful but over the last 8 years I'd still say we were more successful than you overall.

In the last 20 years Liverpool have won 0 league titles opposed to Arsenal. So over the last 20 years I'd still say we were more successful than you overall.

That's not the argument tho is it. I am asking whats better, Automatic CL football or 8th place in league and europa.

And for a club like Liverpool, not winning the league title for 20 odd yrs is a shocker!.

Actually your name is not even on the PL trophy!.

"and Walcott isn't signing a new contract."

Eh?

you knew this would descend

The fact that you talk about the relatively small period we have gone without a trophy shows the standards wenger set beforehand

Also the fact that you think the league cup is any kind of 'success' shows how far your standards have falling

I think it depends on the team, if your a club that has a relatively full trophy cabinet and and expect to be challenging for the league and champions league then you would go for 3rd place as a better option. If your a lower placed team used to fighting relegation then a decent cup run and a day out at wembly would likely be a better option than champions league when they would probably get knocked out in the qualifiers anyway!

I think it's all down to expectations

I agree with you but for a club for a club the size of l'pool for them to be using the league cup to try and mock our recent drought, i find it pathetic.

The original debate was why Walcott would want to move from Arsenal to Liverpool, and what I previously wrote tells you why. Last 8 years 6 finals including two Champions League finals and winning 3 cups., plus 4 top 4 finishes. Arsenal 8 top 4 finished but 2 finals and no wins.

He'd be going to a team that has, based on the last 8 years more chance of winning trophies. If top 4 and CL qualification was all that mattered then why are you always losing your best players. It's because they want more than just Top 4. I'm not saying that they would have stayed if you'd won an FA Cup or Carling Cup, but if you were regularly getting to finals they may have done.

FJM, based on the last 8 years, do you think Portsmouth are more likely to win trophies than Arsenal?

posted on 11/8/12

The argument is, for the rest of time, would you rather win nothing or win something

Liverpool have lost Xabi Alonso, Arbeloa, Mascherano and Torres

----
We all know that Alonso and Arbeloa wanted to go back to Spain, while Hodgson was responsible for mascherano and Torres.

But as we are not in the champions league we are STILL keeping hold of our top players... Same cant be said for arsenal.

He also supports liverpool

Also Walcott is a Liverpool fan... Probably as he saw the team winning things...

he'd never join a club that struggles to even get into the europa league

posted on 11/8/12

That was the original argument and then you made it into this. Its about now!, whose in a better posistion to challenge-Arsenal. Who can offer players a chance to play in europe's elite competition-Arsenal.

they wont give up...look at that pathetic 4 day old and still raging argument on the spurs board

Er, if l'pool could keep there players you would be title contenders. Aggers on his way out, you somehow brainwashed suarez to sign other than that you are a selling club. Rvp and Walcott are still in arsenal colors the last time i looked.

As for Theo being a pool fan, Michael Owen and Carragher are Everton fans that never played for them so it means absoloutely nothing.

You poor deluded fool!

Aggers on his way out? What with him get YNWA tattooed while you say Van Persie is still in Arsenal colours... Despite him saying he wants to leave???

Bwaaahahahaha

Deluded, take alook back at some of your comments. Rvp wants to leave but he's still here and will be playing tomorrow. We sell our best players and have finished above you for the past hw many seasons nw?.
