Great write up. Interesting point about Peltier in the middle.
Does anyone know the player? In the guard of honour?
That's great. I'm feeling good again about this season now for the first time in a couple of years but lets see how they get on against Wolves.
Reckon Diouf's wearing the shirt now and the fans have got to get behind him. It's Bates we have a problem with.
If the guard of honour all wore waterproofs it was probably Dioufy.
Good article although not sure about not abusing players.
Some players may deserve abuse, putting on a white shirt can't protect them from what has happened. Also each individual has the right to make ones own mind up.
Would you boo Bates if he came onto the pitch wearing a white shirt?
Yes very different but wearing a white shirt can't shield anyone from abuse.
Completely understand what you are saying RSL, but what has EHD ever done to Leeds?
If Kewell came on the pitch I would have a very hard time supporting him, but to boo a player who has never done anything against?
Mike I couldn't see who the player was, I could just see the camera shots on the big screen.
I've been racking my brains, has there ever been a Leeds player who got booed making his debut?
I'm pretty sure than lanky striker we had on loan a couple of seasons ago called Dickinson ended up being booed by the end of his debut...he was awful
Listening to the fans boo a player in a Leeds shirt did not sit well with me. How does that help the team that people profess to support. I was concerned about Diouf's impending arrival due to the impact on morale. Warnock addressed this by sounding the players out before bringing him. Let's not lose sight of the fact that the reason Warnock was forced to go down this route, was Bates' financial priorities, save your booing for him and his board I say and preferably before and after the match. This team needs all the undivided support we can give them!
Rant over!
Surely the point is why boo Diouf. Are fans stupid enough to think this will help our club?
I don't like Diouf and don't like the fact he's at Leeds, but no Leeds player should be booed by Leeds fans unless he disrespects the club/shirt whilst at Leeds.
Completely agree Jonty, well put.
Agree, I remember sat at ER in the mid 90's where Leeds fans boo'ed Gary Macca, he'd had a few bad games etc, but felt sorry for him being boo'ed by his own fans... the couple of seasons that followed were the best he had a Leeds ironically, including the hatrick game vs PSV
Us football fans are fickle. 2/3 goals and those boos will turn to cheers. In a way I expect him to earn some respect from us, but do not endorse the booing of a Leeds palyer - If we draw Man U in the cup and he spits at their fans, he will become a Leeds legend - same as if he were to break Rooney's leg with a horror tackle. Doesn't make it right. but we all know this would be the case
When the boos started on Sat at first i thought it was nothing more than some banter.
As Jonty has said, in an ideal world I'd not ordinarily welcome EHD into the club. He's signed though, and as long as he puts in a shift every match, and improves us as a team, then i just don't get him being booed by his own clubs fans.
I wouldn't want any Leeds player to spit at anyone nor would I want any player to suffer a broken leg.
Duiff and barton are both odious individuals, but whilst he's wearing a Leeds shirt and gives 100% for the cause, he gets my vote.
I could think of a lot of things that are more disgraceful at our club than him. Bates of course at the top, but some of the woefull displays at the heart of our defence last season, was criminal, and I'm glad some of these blokes have been hoofed out of the club
If we draw Man U in the cup and he spits at their fans, he will become a Leeds legend
No he won't YoungWhite. He might in your eyes, but probably no one else. Stupid comment to make.
I agree with Jonty.
Jesus, imagine Barton signing for us! Horrific!
No-one wants to see spitting or legbreaking going on.
What I can't figure out is how Roy Kean has become a tv pundit and manager after what he did to Alfie Haaland. How did he not face criminal charges for that?
Jaz, seems to me that the press and people in the game are a little scared of Roy Keane, I remember a press conference he did after Henry handled the ball and scored against Ireland before the last world cup, Roy Keane started ranting about how they should 'get over it', and meantioned about the time I was sent home / thrown out of the Ireland team one year... it sppeared to me, the only person not over it was Roy Keane, but the interveiewer didn;t challange him at all, just laughed it off...
for the record, yes, Haaland could of lost him whole career after that tackle.
Horsforth I am not giving my opinion just stating that a white shirt can't shield anyone and everyone from abuse.
We abuse Bates our so called saviour
KB Does'nt spend 90mins trying to earn a win for Leeds United, a player does and should be applauded not booed as long as he does his best for the Team and the Fans.

eh? - have I missed something? - what has KB got to do with this?
Calcio , some people seem to think that just because we give KB grief, it's ok to boo Leeds United players , personally i'd boo the chairman till i'm hoarse but never boo anyone in a Leeds Shirt.
Could never boo one of my own... I can get quiet frustrated sometimes when a player is giving bad passes all game etc etc, but would always back their corner in the end...
used to sit in front of some people who hated Nigel Worthington (ok who didn't), but they used to tut everytime he got the ball,... became a little boring tbh
