A few years ago we rented a 17-metre barge for 7 and spent a week in Aquitaine. Great lazy holiday, great value for money. Bikes thrown in for €10 each for the week. Full insurance included in the price, which was a great thought when trying to get 17m of boat into a 4m-wide sideways. Drink-driving compulsory.

It would be easier if there was just a crate of tennents occupying the flat. Just evict them down my throat.

I was practically homeless during my move.

My Lease ran out and the flat i finally decided on wasn't available till about TWO weeks, Thank Goodness for family! I had to go dump the entire contents of my home at my baby sister's for TWO weeks - my stuff took over a ROOM and part of her loft.

I booked a holiday to be off during that time and then another flat i previously liked told me that the other tenant pulled out, so i had to perch on my mate's spare room on a per night basis ( i paid the fooker ).

Then i had to move the stuff from my sister's in less than a week, cancel my holiday, and organise stuff!

Phew! Quelle stress!

Why dont you move in with your brother temporarily and travel outrageously long distances to get to and from work?

One of my brothers does live in Edinburgh and has a spare room, but i'm not admitting defeat. My new flatmate's maw said she'd help us move everything over on monday, which is my only access to a car, but it's looking impossible for us to move on monday now. If it's tuesday then i can probably wangle an extra day in my current flat.

Thinking about it, a lot of people were I work are actually from the likes of Inverness/Nairn etc. But travel down and stay in Aberdeen during the week.

I foresee a couple of for Neymar in his first season

The current Neymar lovefest is sickening. There is a twitter user called Zizoulogy who is so far up his a.rse it is pathetic and has the worst opinion of Neymar.

How does it manage both at the same time?

posted on 26/6/13

Because he constantly sucks up to him and then mentions how he will go on to be the best brazilian ever, better than Ronaldinho, already better than Ronaldo was at his age blah blah blah

Edin...instead of whipping yourself into a frenzy, why don't we wait until he has his maiden season in La Liga but most importantly, we have to find out if Neymar can hack it on a wet and windy night in Stoke!

Edin - For an englishman, a country overhyping its best player should come as no surprise to you.

I know dot. 20m for Henderson who shows potential, crazy.

I do actually think some how Rooney is in fact underrated (horrendous word) in the PL and England.

Storage units are ridiculously expensive! Not worth it at all.

Good grief.....have you forgotten the media consensus circa 2008/09 that Rooney was the best player in the world?

Had a negative effect now though. We are currently still experiencing the post 08/09 Rooney hype comedown.

English players have NEVER been as good as they are made out to be. England do not underachieve in any way at major tournaments. The only precedent of success for the national team is the home world cup in 66. They have not been close to winning anything since. It would do the country and the team a world of good if everyone just accepted that english/british players are poor in comparison to many other countries.

Looking back at the 04 world cup, that reminds me of 2D-TV so much. I used to love that programme

Edin, I hope you don't think I'm picking on you, but your post seems a bit contradictory. You disagree with Uppy saying English players aren't as good as they're made out to be, but then you cite the hype about them as being one of the national side's main problems.

I actually think England at least know how to play to their strengths and in that respect tend to do quite well, accepting that they might not have the greatest of talent but that they can at least dig deep and give the more talented countries a tough game. More or less consistently making the last 16 or last 8 is pretty much England's level imo. It's hard to gauge exactly how much of an impact the pressure of these tournaments has, but it's got to be much bigger when you're carrying the weight of a nation's expectations on your shoulders rather then merely those of your club, plus the fact that players don't have the same opportunity to gel with their team mates as they do at club level, so I think it's a bit unreasonable to expect the same level of performances.

One thing that needs considering is that I think very few people feel their nat'l sides play to the best of their ability. I certainly don't feel that with Spain, and virtually every big footballing nation at a World Cup gets blasted by its home press for 'underperforming' when they're knocked out, or even when they're still in the tournament if they haven't hammered a 'lesser' opponent 5-0. The variation on a theme is when they're relatively poor, but get knocked out precisely when they've played perhaps their best game. In those cases the criticism gives way to lamenting one's fortune and saying that next time will be our time.

I honestly don't think England are any different in that respect to Spain, Germany, Brazil, France or Italy for example.
