As I have been saying all along, Pietersen looks to me like the victim here.
Where the ECB is getting plaudits for dealing with the matter honsetly, it strikes me that they have shied away from facing the truth of the matter and dealing with the real aggressors, as it would involve taking too many members of the team.
The whole thing wreaks to me.
This all started with Swann's ridiculous book.
I agree - no player should release a book while they are still playing, it's only asking for trouble.
KP is starting to look more and more like the victim here because he doesn't have support from anyone in the team. His video he posted on youtube was also pretty honest and genuine.
Obviously we don't know the details or anything but as soon as the next test is over, England need to look into this matter and find out who the culprit was. If Broad was indeed involved, I don't think he should be playing in the T20, Pietersen should. Pietersen is a hundred times more valuable player in T20 in any case.
the trouble is though it seems like pietersen felt he had noone he could turn to except for the press and the opposition.
if that's the case it seems like it's already been left to run way too far and that to sort out the real culprits, you'd probably have to drop half the team, with swann probably top of the list.
However, Pietersen doesn't seem to be helping himself. After his hundred in the last match he didn't acknowledge any of his England team mates and also before the day of cricket starts he warms up with the South Africans as opposed to his own team mates.
However, I do believe that he should have been in the third test. But imagine the awkwardness when he enters the dressing room on thursday.
and also before the day of cricket starts he warms up with the South Africans as opposed to his own team mates.

really ?
Hales won't be the instigator. It seems clear to me if it is anyone, it is Swann.
Broad surely wouldn't risk it being T20 captain.
Did anyone read Bresnans comments about KP being dropped?
no. have you got a link ?
29GPB - really ?
..............................
apparently, according to tufnell and vaughan last night on fivelive.
ive just watched bresnan's interview. so far as i can see all he's doing is being positive about england going into the game and bigging up the new player. i dont see anything in that interview that touches upon the pietersen issue on way or the other tbh.
so long as england win they will stick togethor. it's if things go wrong that the truth might come out. if england lose this game and lose over the winter without pietersen, then strauss will be sacked and pietersen will be back in for the first test next summer as the golden boy.
On the plus side, we have 2 very talented 22 year olds in the batting ranks.
I get the imoression the selectors are looking to push some of these lads now.
"Honestly thought there was an 'i' in 'team'" - Pietersen
In related news, KP has revealed that the reason he has been so demanding of late is that he thought the word "team" was spelled like his own last name, with an "i" before "e". "It was an honest mistake," explained Pietersen. "Now that I know there's no 'i' in 'team', I'll be sure to play less for myself and more for my... nation. Well, well, well. I think I just found a new favourite word."
From cricinfo.
which was the one that scores a few fairly quick runs in his first innings ? was that morgan or bairstow ? i thought he looked very good in that first innings.
Morgan is never a Test match batsman - Not unless he corrects his technique.
An embarrassing shambles... Sadly the fans will be the major losers in all of this.
Personally believe there's been wrong on the part of both camps and sadly it's been coming to a head for a while, however for it to have got this far to the detriment of the England is pathetic.
On a side note I don't believe Pietersen should have been dropped on the back of the alledged texts, smacks of any excuse to put him in his place for me, all a bit petty. Still he should have realised the dangers, stupid indeed.
Can't remember Swann's loyalty to the team being questioned after his disparaging remarks in his ill-timed book or for that matter what about the press leaks about KP's meetings with the ECB, someone within the hierarchy wasn't exactly loyal to him, not keeping issues behind closed doors. An investigation? What next?
I can see a Test series defeat staring England in the face now, if it wasn't already.
Smith and Co couldn't have asked for a better build-up to a high stakes Test.
Gallopping - Agreed completely.
the ECB seem to have made the position clear ,bad news concerning KP they are interested
anything mitigating such as teamates conspiring against him ,not interested
Gallopping
totally agree with that.
Perhaps now we are seeing why swann was ostracised from the england set up by the previous selectors coaches and captains ?
Yorkie,
Can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading. Texts, false accounts, tweets - what is this?
Man up, get on with your job (In this case salvaging a Test series) and stop acting like school girls.
All of this should have been dealt with, KP should be playing at Lords and England should be concentrating on how to win a Test on a notoriously flat deck but this will it seems drag its heels.
Could you imagine some of the great Australian sides of yesteryear i.e Lillee, Thommo, G Chappell etc or the Waugh era reaching such a state of affairs? Investigating if he said this and who said that, no. They'd, get on with it and so be it... No such pettiness thats for sure.
Look at Warne and Buchanan, never affected Aus did it?

well they did really didnt they. kim hughes still says that the aussies would have won the ashes in 81 if it wasnt for rodney hogg and dennis lillee splitting the dressing room in two.
it's amazing it can happen in this day and age though, and someone should pay for it getting to this situation.
i have always been critical of pietersen before, particularly in his stint as captain, but i really do have some sympathy here, subject to further information becoming available.
not since i started supporting the england cricket team in 1987 have I ever been more ambivilant as to whether they win or not.
Galloping - Sadly further evidence the game is following the same path as football...
GPB,
Really? Do you not mean the spats in 77 which led to the WSC breakaway?
Australia never won the 81 Ashes IMO due to a rampant Botham turning around two Tests out of nowhere, small margins indeed. Australia played some good Cricket at times on that tour. Hughes had a bad time of it but that was down to him being largely worked over by good bowling.
Besides the rifts that hit the Australian side hit World Cricket, Hughes stayed Lillee and co broke away to Packer, happened here and with WI...
What I mean there was a deeper, underlying purpose not like this petty texting/tweeting lark... Point taken mind.
Regarding Swann I'm not sure TBH but it wouldn' be of surprise.

international cricket dressing rooms have been full of splits for decades.
hughes v marsh, lillee, thompson (half the team ignored the captain all tour)
stewart v atherton
gooch v gower
youniskhan v mohamed yousef
warne v slater
azhurrudin v others
just off the top of my head.
these guys live in each other's pockets on tour so there are bound to be tensions. that's why it is so ridiculous that players have been allowed to get associated with publishing books, inflammatory twitter accounts etc. it's a recipe for disaster.

KP is not committed to England. If you listen to both his interviews from the start of the week at the press conference to the interview he gave to his website. Nothing has changed.
And, who the fack is Piers Morgan? That guy is just trying to lick KP's backside because they're good friends.
The English players have denied it was them who sent those Tweets. But, it was a friend of a player who sent them. Once again that does not matter. Just because a friend of mine commits a crime does not mean I'll go down for it, right?!
Also, KP said he commits himself to England, yet he said it's a "strategic decision", make of that what you will.
I can't believe people are even defending KP, him the victim, hasn't he played that role in his entire cricket life?
And, when he commited himself to England again, why didn't he tell the ECB or his players? Why did he have to announce it on his website? KP said he had a long chat with a player, couldn't he mention the fact that he is coming back?
