I wonder how much of a toll has been taken on him with all those times he's carried us over the years. Fat Frank will outlast Gerrard as he's had players doing his dirty work for him for years, while he takes the glory. Gerrard looked shot yesterday.
We can slag off fat Frank all we want. From a consistency level, he has been far better than Gerrard for a few years now. I hate saying it but it is a fact.
Gerrard has been injured for the last few years.
Where have you been?
He has only played 49 games in two seasons compared to Lampard's 83 games.
Of course Lampard has been more consistent.
And of those 49 games...how many good performances has he put in? Not that many. He had a few fab games but also had lots of crap games. This my point. The manager would rather see twenty 7 out 10 performances rather tahn 4 -5 stormers amongst 15 poor games.
Possession based football needs a high level of consistency. Why buy Allen? Cos he is consistent in everything he does...no surprises. Just keeps the ball moving.

It's as good as the one where Gerrard played on the right all season. Myth.
think shelvey will have a role to play this season. he really is a box to box midfielder. unfortunately gerrard seems to be neither defensive or attacking minded at the minute. he needs to play further forward!
Get Jonjo involved. He'll just get better and he's already good.

I mean Arsenal have gone backwards too but they have gone from Fabregas/Nasri to Arteta/Cazorla and from RVP to Podolski. Not the same class but a couple below
