Can't see Kane lasting the whole 90, pretty sure Soldado will come on at some point. Bringing inLamela in will beef the midfield up.

Cue Lamela constant fouls all over the place

I would have gone for virtually the same lineup personally my only change would have been Naughton for Chiriches.

I do not believe that we can successfully defend against them for 90 minutes so why not go for it ourselves

Fair team. Personally would have kept the same X1, but can see the logic.

Main thing is Ade, Kaboul and Rose are out of the picture

Yes but with that lineup the main thing is that Chiriches is playing

I cannot for the life of me see why Lamela is starting instead of Soldado or Chadli

Chelsea team isn't too scary apart from Hazard and Fabregas.

Fazio should be able to deal with Drogba's strength.

I agree completely the only thing I will say is that Lamela does work hard but he also gives silly free kicks away all over the pitch

Lamela must be our greatest ever player in training

I like the shape - as long as Lamela is left and Lennon right - and they keep their discipline defending.

My concerns are:

Kane on his own. May be a step too far for him where he's at at present. I'd love him to give Terry a rough ride.

The lads in centre mid need to be on it. Going to have Oscar and Fabregas to deal with. Mason should be given Fabregas, just hunt him down

Yes Lamela works hard but like you say he gives far to many fouls

Hopefully he proves me wrong and had a decent game

My concerns are:

That after a good enjoyable performance that we have gone back to a negative sustem that has not worked all season what the hell makes MP think it will work against the best team in the land on current form?

This is the same system that saw the likes of west brom beat us at home and IMO its a dreadful choice by our manager

we're going to be lining up 441 no?

That Chelsea team has a good player in every position. They don't really have a weak link in the team that you can target.

I hope Lamela can bring something to the team today. It'll be frustrating seeing him cut into the middle all the time and occupying Eriksen's space.

If he could stick on the wing more often than he does and draw out Ivanovic then Kane can make some runs inbetween him and Cahill/ Terry.

I would have liked Soldado to start. He scored and you don't want to cut off someone's momentum. Plus he is smart enough to bring other people into play.

Eriksen centre or left?

posted on 3/12/14

probably swapping with Lamela, Hengy, but it looks like a 4411 lineup to me, there is no real DM there for starters

I'd guess a 4411 with Eriksen left, Lamela behind Kane

Having seen the lineup I hope I am wrong but I really cannot see us scoring I really am not happy
