Edin

As I already said he is a good athlete but I am afraid that hard work and harrassment does not cut it against really good players.

The likes of Monaco (altho I dont think they looked that good tonight) are quite capable of bypasing and one twoing somebody like Wanyama.

Thats not his fault he is what he is but when you are in a competition with great players then poor or average get found out. If he was that good a player then there would have been lots of teams trying to buy him. There were not simply because he is what he is.

Spurs fans slated me like this is the first month after signing Palacios because I said the same thing. Guess what a year later they were all telling me how he could not pass etc how he kept giving the ball away and giving pens away.

Give them a couple of years to catch on they will get there and understand what I am saying

Varying degrees of styles in there, but none meet your definition of 'footballers' and yet, all footballers.

So you can let go of my hand now poppet.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

No I will hold it a bit longer cos you are still not quite there yet

Is there any player who's always capable of defending against 2 players himself ?

If so, let's sign him up

grand spurs are you continuing on your rather baffling tirade against wanyama who is probably the least of our problems at the moment.

The likes of Carrick manages and scores a few goals into the bargain and does nto give free kicks away

Patrick Vierra was fair at it as well now I think about it.

Ossie Ardlies was not that bad at it either thinking back

But of course they were defensive midfield players. The difference was they were footballers

I think Wanyama is solid defensively, knows when to press and when to cover.

I have actually been impressed with him on the ball this season, rarely loses it, which I thought he was very guilty of. He just lacks anything in the final third, but I don't mind that too much; we should have 5 other players (7 if including the FB's) who do the offensive work.

Again, look at Kante. I don't think he is particularly good in the final third either but was the best player last season for the champs.

The fact you can't separate the examples I gave against your own opinions, and the fact apparently no one seems to agree with, should tell you that while you are of course entitled to your own opinion, it may just be the wrong one.

And Palacios was an entirely different player after his grievance leave. Yes he was limited before, but good for the team. Wanyama is a better player in all aspects and also good for the team.

Its like being at school I point out his limitations so now I "hate" him

Grow up ffs and stop trying to score a few cheap points

So he is an improvement to the team?

Lets see if thats reflected at the end of the season and I will gamble no for sure

But we can't say that the reason we lost to monaco is that we dont have patrick viera or ossie ardilles in the team can we ?

There must be more to it than that ?

So Wanyama is responsible for the form of Eriksen and Alli, and the absence of Kane and Toby, the injuries we didn't have last year etc? Fair judgement (that was sarcasm, in case you're still trying to hold my hand)

Wow is that what I said?

Its strange really

A year ago I gave a negative i=opinion on Eriksen and got flamed well guess what? Everybody now is saying exactly what I said a year ago regarding Eriksen

David Bentley we signed and I slagged him again got flamed big time but a year later??????

Same with Adebayor yet a year later...........................

Same with Palacios..............................................

Same with Darren Bent...........................................

Same when we resigned Robbie Keane.......................

One I have got a bit wrong which is Harry Kane after seeing him a cou0le of times I said I did not think he would end up top class.

Thats not bad 10 years on here and the old 606 and out of all our signings I have been wrong about one, yes one.

Nobody else can make a claim like that and I wont be wrong this time.

wanyama is a good workhorse and a very very average

Say what you like in a years time you will all be saying exactly the same.

No I dont blame him for our current form or tonights defeat but he is and always will be a very average footballer.

Now say what you like I wont be wrong because I am wrong about once in a hundred calls so I have about another 83 to go before I will be wrong again

Hahaha are you really trying to make this into a pishing contest? 😂

OK, I'll try not to call you out for another 101 judgements (+1 to compensate for Wanyama)

I dont care if you call me out or not I will happily gamble my judgements on footballers in any company I have been involved in it one way or another as a player, coach manager etc for over 50 years so your opinions dont faze me at all.

I stick with what my original comment was and thats when you have peopel of limited football ability agaisnt top side you will get found out and we did.

No I dont want to shoot Wanyama because of it, I dont put all the blame for the defeat on his shoulders but clever top players will just play around average footballers as was proved today. That was what I originally said and the proof was in the game.

Trippier, Wimmer, Wanyama 3 examples that were today shown up by better quality players. Ok nobody played well but we have what we have and we are not good enough to feast at the big table yet.

Now if for some reason you can interpret that as I hold Wanyama to blame for our defeat or anythign else then I suggest you get reading lessons a bit lively.

I'd think we're all unfazed by others opinion know here, it's an Internet forum, for it to hold any sway in a walk of life would be laughable 😂

Stick with your comment by all means, better players than Wanyama have been shown up when the team around them don't perform. One man can't take on 11 (2 men if you count Lloris)

Fact is, Victor has been one of our best performers this year, albeit in an underperformed side, but a large part of the reason we're as yet unbeaten in the league is down to his performance.

You call him an athlete in a negative light, I call it along with his other attributes in a positive way. Tonight we were poor. Collectively.

If you can't read or understand that, I assume you're just intent on trying to prove yourself right and grab the final word.

I hope you see our next 100 signings as positive so they definitely come good.

First time ive seen ardilles compared to viera anyway

posted on 22/11/16

Ronaldo's as much an athlete as he is a footballer btw, imo.

Made this point on the le tissier thread yesterday.

Read afain I never compared Ardiles and Vierrra

Yes Ronaldo is both an athlete AND a footballer which is why he has been classed as the best player in the world a couple of times

posted on 22/11/16

Same could certainly be said for Bale too.

Less so Le Tiss 😂
