Do you actually believe your own username ???

Just because he joined Ron IN FEELING SAD you think he's coming home

For one thing you cannot afford him even your own bosses in the paper admitted that and even if you could afford him he wouldn't go back

Mate I don't think you're a bad lad so do yourself a favor and change the name

"AVB has already stated he was tasked to get us (or keep us) Top 4 by Levy."
***
There you go!
And I wont say it again, but ...... Moutinho ... Levy .... third party ....AVB dangling by a Bale ....and a Brad
Oh yes... we did get Hugo Lloris
Levy must have thought we'll need him

AVB has already stated he was tasked to get us (or keep us) Top 4 by Levy.

quote?

and did he say a time frame?

"Levy works for Lewis."

ENIC own Spurs. Levy owns close to 30% of ENIC (according to cursory info) .

"but if this IS another Ramos, people need to question him."

When do we decide this is so ??
The 2 from 8 was not the first 8 games of Ramos' tenure at Spurs.

Chronic - I think he said it in a press conference - anyway I did see him say it on a vid, something along the lines of he's been brought in by the chairman to get us top four this season, that is the target (I think - would be useful to be able to find the vid) which even at the time I thought was madness.

I'm no huge AVB fan (though I have defended him on here) but I think that's extremely optimistic for this season. Any one of four teams can get fourth I reckon. Top three is pretty much a given imo.

"the day Levy realises he made a big fack up I guess"

Suppose that day is today.
What results from the club are we now looking at in order to confirm/corroborate that realisation ??

Mate I know that you and all the guys on here are passionate and want the world for Spurs just like me but we are simply not in a position to spend money we dont have especially with the new stadium ....Mout was a big blow but TBH I dont think whatever happened we would have got him , too many other factors

I posted an article a week or so back about how much influence Zennit would have on us buying Mout and in that our deal was reliant on Porto NOT buying Hulk

You know, .... I kinda like this thread. Shows the diversity of fans we have on here.

The situation as I see it is that we've lost two key midfielders in VDV and Modric. (Supposedly we've "partnered with Real M, which is Levy speak for a failure in dealings.)
We didn't get the needed replacements.
Bale has lost form, according to many fans .... I dont think so myself, think he's just trying to do too much on the pitch.
This leaves AVB dangling in need of a fit Tommy Hudd. Where Sigi fits is still a mystery.

As for our back four, Vertongen may work out. Gallas doesn't have the legs for a full season.
And boy did the Norwich wingers show up our backs.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the Moutinho signing then squid (which I'm more than happy to do ). We signed Dembele for £15m before we had the Modric money, didn't we? I simply can't believe that he was an AVB target ahead of Moutinho. So, for me Levy messed up any chance we had by going for him so late.

How big the actual chance to sign him was is a slightly different point that I can't really get my head round, but I think it was obvious he wasn't coming when he travelled with his club, so all these shenanigans after that time, especially the post 11pm stuff, is absolutely mystifying.

Anyway, I think I've said just about everything I can on the subject From now on all that matters, for me, is that AVB is given time - and I reckon that's at least one season, unless he really proves to be as clueless and untalented as the most pessimistic people on here suggest (which I cannot believe) as long as we have a good cup run or two and get Europa for next season.

Let's results improve asap, and we all get behind the team whatever happens in the short-term

TBH

I'm not pro or anti AVB , all I want is for him to be given time to prove it one way or the other

Levy IMO has been superb for us and I'll admit that I cannot understand how our own fans can slaughter him , he seems to get blamed if anything goes wrong but is ignored when things go well ....Apart from not spending money which we haven't got and taking his time on transfers which he has to do otherwise we couldn't buy the players ...what has he done to get everybody's back up

Can't find the video of AVB talking about the target he was set, but it's quoted here:

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/8016621/AVB-Fourth-a-must-for-Spurs

"Top four is what was proposed to me and that's what I accepted."

Also, sorry, Modric was sold before we signed Dembele. So half the Modric money was used for him, presumably, which still left 15m towards Moutinho.

Porto sell one player every now and again to subsidise the club ...this year they had either Hulk or Mort to sell , they had a deal in place to sell Hulk to Zennit that gave us a chance to buy Mout at a far cheaper price than Hulk would go for , we tried our best to get him but the mere fact that Hulk DID sign for Zennit leads me to firmly believe that our interest in Mout forced Zennit to reopen talks and Porto decided they would sell to the Russians so we were stuffed , lots of stuff going round about the last stages of Mout deal and why it didnt happen ...One theory was that they faxed all the wrong documents to us , we waited for the right ones but they didn't come until it was a couple of minutes late

posted on 5/9/12

sorry missed out that the original deal for Hulk fell through which opened the door for us and Mout

Lesson: If true DO NOT USE FAX.
Its old old technology. Use email.

Yeah but it's standard practise to use fax , I dont know why they dont use e-mail

How many fans on here think we can make top four this season??
There's Chelsea, ManU (rumored to be after Neimayr of Santos), Citech,
then there's the middle bunch, Reading, Newcastle, Norwich, Spurs, Arsenal (I suppose), Swansea, ... add you own.
If we come middle of the middle bunch, that puts us sixth.
Since we raided Fulham, not sure how they will do with BMJ.
So .... will AVB last if we come sixth?

I'm not sure Squid, I'm tired of speculating really about what happened that day. All I'm reasonably sure of is that if we'd gone for him earlier we would have had a better chance of getting him. It seems we bought Dembele instead.

I'm neither pro or anti-AVB, and the same with Levy. I criticise and praise them both where I think it's deserved. I didn't want Harry to go but think he gave Levy no choice, so back him 100% on that (just for one example).

On this one I think we are a Modric-replacement of some kind short this season, and that is huge. So, as Levy has put in the structure where AVB is apparently only 1/4 of the 'player signing committee' (Levy, Earles or someone - whoever he is, and Sherwood who I dislike and distrust) and our signings have mostly not been AVB's, I feel I have every right to criticise Levy and doubt that direction he has taken us in.

I think if you ignore the extreme opinions, there are a surprising number of posters on here who, a bit of kneejerk and too much passion at times that you exoect from fans aside, are pretty objective after taking everything into account.

Galv, just for one example, never wanted AVB (I don't think - correct me if I'm wrong!) but is giving the guy a chance and hoping for the best.

Right, must leave it there for tonight, real life is calling

...................

Fine you are of course entitled to your opinion but I will say that the direction he's taken us in is to an almost permanent top 5...He may or may not achieve that again we're only 3 games in and only time will tell on that

posted on 5/9/12

I dont even know why there is a debate disputing whether the posters who are questionning the direction we are going in have any less rights than anybody else to say their piece.

The long or short of it is, under the new regime we seem to be going backwards. Anyone who denies this, i believe, is kidding themselves - but they are still entitled to say otherwise.

Some even claim that the plan is to go backwards to rebuild, but again i cannot see the logic in this, and to my mind this is just a delaying tactic, to delay admitting the inevitable.
