Why is Tonge such a shocking signing? Getting sick and tired of the pre-judgemental comments on here. Would sicknote Jenas been that much better? Neil Danns? Do me a favour! Warnock has worked with Tonge before, he got promotion with Sheffield United when Tonge was a midfield anchor in the side. But any chance to be negative can't be passed up on here can it?

Stinks of no ambition, 'he'll fit in', 'he'll do a job'. Heard it all before blah blah blah.

I hope Warnock has seen something the rest of us can't.

Played hardy any competitive football in 4 years and is happy staying at Stoke, taking a wage he wouldn't get anywhere else, loanee journey man.

This signing is almost as bad as the signing of Gray.

Is Tonge really the best we could have got?

Think the following comments explain his logic

"It was vital we did something in time for Cardiff.
He knows how I play, I don't have to explain things"

So will be able to get in and do a job at very short notice rather than a better player who would take time to gel in with the team. Does make sense but yea not excited by this at all

I'm prepared to give the guy a chance

Will reserve my judgement until after a few games

When was his last full game?

So is Warnock saying he is going to put a player that had only played 10 games in 3 seasons straight into the starting line-up v Cardiff?

That is shocking

This is the worst signing of all....completely baffled by this!

ChildoftheJago....

you would rather have Tonge than Neil Danns? I despair....i really do....

"There was a lot of names bandied about, but I said we would wait for him so I'm pleased"

that IS scary, what does he mean? Is he actually saying weve been tracking him for a while? Its hardly a difficult signing to make, he doesnt play....he's been out on loan for 4 years pretty much....and nothing has come of any of those loan spells....

If we'd signed Tonge 3-4 years ago ok, but now?? Childofthejago, if he were any good now, I think club where he's been on loan to would have wanted to sign him! Danny Pugh, used to get in Stoke's team/matchday squad ahead of him, therefore why do we bother getting him? As I said above, 3-4 years ago, why not? But now? Yes he's played under Warnock for a long time but hasn't featured regularly in starting line ups! Hope I'm proven wrong
