Doesnt matter in the slightest he still turned down a new contract at Highbury to take more money from a far smaller club with no prospects ......Kind of proves my point

you mean the same way your new signing dempsey messed about fulham because he wanted to go liverpool but then came to spurs?

posted on 16/9/12

Sory mate, but I am old school, he should think himself lucky to be earning all the money out the game. Nobody forced the little toad to sign a contract, he did that himself, and then thought it good to jump ship at the first sign of a better contract.

-------

Sandy,

At least you acknowledge things are different these days. The contract extension benefited both parties. How many contracts are honoured these days?

Modric has said his dream is to win the Champions League.

I really don't see the problem here. It's not like he came out with derogatory comments at any stage. He only said good things about us. And he performed like an ox in his 4 years with Spurs

Holte are you the same Holte who posted reams of irrelevant stats and piles of total garbage on the Spurs site for years and years on the old 606

Luka he also refused to train or go on tour that in itself is far worse than any remarks he could of made

After he left, if he thought that much of us, he would not have sulked and pretty well gone on strike to get a move away. Anyway I have moved on, and pretty well erased him from my Spurs memory bank. Just another mercenary overseas footballer who hopefully will get his just desserts.

But you haven't moved on have you . Every time there is a Modric article you're the first to comment.

Indeed. He must be thinking how could he join Madrid in 10th place when he could've easily stayed with Spurs and been 15th ...... what a collosal plunker

his just deserts? my G-d you are bitter. hands down the best player we had at the club. your overseas footballer comments sounds almost xenophobic. if any of our "English" players had the skill to move overseas they would. and the argument about the contract really it's in place to protect the club just as much as the player.
i've had enough of these modric articles, great player, sad that he left. no i didn't appreciate how he ended his time with us but it happens. i'm well over it. wished him nothing but luck and continue.

Yeah stick together the two founding members of the Modric fan club.............We have every right to think what we want about him and the over riding thing that comes through is nobody minds he left but we all hate the way he treated the club and us fans over the last two summers ............I'm not denying he was a great player but not a great man

posted on 16/9/12

i never said you didn't have the right, try reading it again...then have someone read it to you and explain it to you with pictures. i clearly mentioned...mind you in writing, that i didn't appreciate the way he treated the club but it happens it todays game. loyalty is a long gone illusion in todays game. do i agree with it...... no does that make one bit of a difference how a footballer will behave...chances are not. dwelling on modric is pointless. we received adequate compensation...that we re-invested. now that fan club thing was just silly, i clearly prefer jenas

Jenas's goal record v scuuumm is excellent

Real Spurs fans support and take the club over any individual player...They come they go but Spurs are always here........

Whatever you say or think he disrespected the club big time ...Two summers he refused to train and refused to go on tour , for me that is unforgivable , nobody forced him to sign the deal that bound him to the club but when something better came along he couldn't wait to break it ....Horrible little money grabbing man , no honour and worst off all he's now trying to be nice to us fans who gave hm nothing but support and respect

Glad he's gone now may he rot

I didn't hear you complaining about him last season when he turned in performance after performance? That was after he "disrespected the club big time", no?

You and a few others would do well to take the blinkers off and look at the bigger picture for a moment. A player comes to Spurs for £15 million, helps make them a top 4 outfit within 4 years. Player expresses wish to leave to achieve his dream, the club profits. Now according to some he should rot? Charming!

LukaCorluka.

Modrics behaviour to get himself a move last summer and this summer were both incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful.

he did buckle down and play during the season, but why should that be to his credit? that shoudl be the minimum required, as he was still getting paid by the club to play. so damn right he should have been playing

"Modrics behaviour to get himself a move last summer and this summer were both incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful."

That is the sum of it.

And like Berbatoss before him, it sullies are the good he did as a player and the affection that the fans have for him.

I suggest future Spurs wantaways :

1. Get agents who can read the small print.
2. Look at how Teddy left Spurs to go to Man Utd.

TBH I believe you are a fan of the Croatian national team and latched onto us when we had 3 of your players in our team .....If I'm wrong then I'll apologise but I dont think so somehow

I agree that this wasn't the most diplomatic approach to seeking a move away. But you have to consider Levy's role (whom i totally support btw) in all this, is it coincidence that in recent times two players resorted to this underhand tactic? He likes to hold out for the best price clearly, and when there is a lot at stake it drives people to do silly things
