I can't see Downing playing in the centre, surely it's the following:-

Brendan must know we are stuck with Downing - who would buy him? So is trying him in various positions/line-ups.

Kneerash I can't see Downing being anything but garbage in a team with no player to cross it to. Downing's whole game is based on beating his man and whipping a cross in. I'm not sure how Yesil suits Downing but I don't think he'll be the type of player who'll benefit from Downing. Downing should have went when Carroll went.

I agree it's embarrassing for the player sitting so far behind youth players he is 28 not another one with promise and its embarrassing for the club to have payed 20 million for a player who is so far down the pecking order. He is going to be worth 5 million max by the end of the season, should have loaned him out as well...
TOOR yes he scores here and there, but with the right management I reckon he could be a 20+ a season guy?
He doesnt often bang more than 2 in a game and thats what we are crying out for, scoring more goals!

Downing played centrally numerous times for Villa when they had a spell playing 4-3-3.
I think he will probably start centrally.

Toor, as Borini's out, we need him on the bench that's for sure as he offers cover in two positions.The next 4 league games have become huge. I would expect Henderson and Sahin to be involved to, because Shelvey is out.

I listened to Monday's one last night and heard a very interesting thing.
2 days before the game on Sunday one of the lads was at a charity meal for one of fergies foundations, have a guess who was sitting 2 seats away from fergie at the top table and being all friendly with him???
One clue he wasn't a popular man in anfield on Sunday
