It is a game of two halves. Our midfield is quite frankly garbage when those geriatrics start together and our midfield is just abject.
This is a dark day for the club.
and Giggs, don't retire, but be a sub in future

Please retire.
Only because spurs backed off.
3 penalties for me. And I'll take the defeat because we finally clicked upfront
at least we wont have to hear quite so much about Dembele now.... Scholes showed he is still the best CM in the league.
Scholes showed why he should be a substitute today. He was fantastic in the second half but will struggle against physicality. Still feel as though Ando-Carric is our most balanced partnership.
Apart from that I agree with you.
The hypothetically eye-watering front four came to fruition and we dominated possession because of it. Let's just hope Sir Alex recognises that and sticks with it.
Anybody else frustrated with the Welbeck for Kagawa change?
Red Con
Overreaction much? Scholes a geriatric? He annihilated the Spurs midfield in that second half.
If you think this is a 'dark' day for the club then you need to take a reality check and see that we just lost a home game. That's all. We had enough chances to score 6 or 7 so just look at the positives.
I hope people do not get carried away a lot by the second half performance.
It was clear that Spurs were just scared of losing goals and were defending deep, it was more the circumstances of the match rather than our midfield that dominated spurs in the second half.
This performance is not a surprise, it was the same vs Galatasaray and Pool, we just were incredibly lucky in those games. Unless there are some major tactical changes in our play, i m not too sure abt our season.
RVP must have left his shooting boots at home. Giggs should do the right thing and retire.
Kagawa needs to bulk the f-up. Ok performance from him but he seems to lack the ability to play through balls and relies on movement. I am still a fan but he needs to shape up.
Agree Rob. Second half was wonderful footie from our boys!
One thing's for sure, Giggs should NEVR get a start again! Scholes on the other hand... 91% pass rate.
Valencia Smile
You make it sound like Spurs chose to drop deep.
We forced them to by upping the tempo like I said we would when Rooney came on.
That front four of RVP, Rooney, Kagawa and Nani will win us the title this season. Give it time to properly gel.
Thanks for the three points fellas.
theres plenty of shame in that defeat... the first half wasn't poor it was embarrassing.
Scholes and Carrick were woeful in the first 45... Giggs was pathetic. Spurs cut through us.... as will any side with energy and pace who have a go.
as well as we played in the second half (at times!)... it doesn't disguise how bad we were and we have had this defeat coming for some time.
The only plus was how the front 4 linked at the start of the second half.... now if Fergie could just get his head out of his a r s e and mix one of Cleverley and Ando with either Scholes/Carrick... we'd maybe start looking like challengers
Agreed JSPC
I like Dembele but he was vastly overrated in the first half and literally did nothing in the second.
Scholes is a gem to have at our club still.
Ok performance from him but he seems to lack the ability to play through balls and relies on movement. I am still a fan but he needs to shape up.

This is one of the most idiotic things I've read on here for a while. How is he supposed to play through balls WITHOUT movement?
If we had lost tp Spurs last season, it would not have been that bad as they were much better last season than this.
They were just average and we lost against them at home.
I think Red-Connosier is right, this really is a very very sad day for Manchester United. That first half performance was embarrasingly pathetic.
We could have destroyed them with Rooney and Anderson in the starting line up. Unfortunately, Fergie's stubbornness will keep costing us points. This defeat is signed: Sir Alex Ferguson.

funrob, please learn to read. I said 'together'.
And yes, i am not carried away by our second half performance. Spurs backed off, it is a game of two halves.
Bloody hell Valencia Smile
It's just a defeat.
Have you ever heard that saying about treating defeat as you would victory? It's just one game and I doubt Giggs will start many more games and with Rooney back now we can start to play the attacking football we're known for.
A sad day for the club was Munich. Not a bloody loss to a very good team.

When a team is leading by 3-1 or 2-1 at OT after HT, it is very obvious what they are gonna be up against, its a lot of psychology at work.
We were 2-0 down and pressed everyone forweard to get to 2-1, because of that Spurs were able to score a classic counter attacking goal as there were big big gaps at the back.
They knew that they were leading so decided to drop deep and hit us on counter, just becos of Defoe's height they were not able to use the long ball.

Funrob old boy.... you are no longer optimistic..... you are totally off your rocker .
we've lost 2 games already.... played none of our title challengers (Spurs have been fairly dire up to now btw)... our midfield is a shambles despite a 40 minute masterclass from Scholes today
We are not winning the title this season.... unless Fergie gets his act together, we'll not even challenge
