Sadly the excitement of watching England play has been lost over the years I can't quite put my finger on why though.

Yeah i am generalising a bit. but i can't stand that 'En-ger-land' chant...plus i remember i was in a pub watching England v Portugal in the 2006 WC and all the fans in there started singing that cringe worthy '10 German bombers' song...

I was glad that none of my few German mates were there

yeah agree i like the cricket team

Alistair Cook seems a nice bloke

I will always support the football team though i don't particularly like them. I always had respect for the rubgy team, but that changed a bit when quite a few of them acted like s during the last rugby world cup in 2011

Yeah maybe you're right chronic. It does seem very often that the players aren't proud enough to wear the shirt, maybe that's one reason I'm not too bothered about them.

posted on 23/10/12

I cant see why people think they're not proud to wear the shirt. I'm assuming its because they dont always have a good game whilst wearing it. If thats the case then there are many club players who are not proud to play for their respective clubs, including Spurs.

I gave up watchig England ages ago, ever since the team was filled up with several undroppable players. The team is rubbish tournament after tournament, and the same players keep gettign picked. It would never happen at club level.

The Golden Generation, do me a favour. It is unbelievable that 3 or 4 of them are going to end up with 100 caps each. A complete joke.

You accused Spurs of doing the same thing last season, so (in your eyes) why is England any different to Spurs, in this respect?

If you are looking for confrontation then I am afraid you have picked on the wrong poster. Try another poster more intrested in your petty arguments. Not interesed mate.

To be fair Chicken's comment isn't exactly confrontational...

It's a fair question Sandy. I recall you talking about Harry and his favourites and how some players weren't droppable. Now you say it wouldn't happen at international level? Hmmmm.

I have never advocated any player not be undroppable for club or country. Not sure where you are coming from. Which players did I say were not undroppable? And were they actually playing badly for the club? Plenty of England players have been shocking for years, and are still getting picked, big, big difference.

i think what sandy means is that England have been crap for so long that its painful to watch and you just know it will end in tears after you believe in the hype that through their boring negative football they will win the world cup

posted on 23/10/12

sandy,

My post wasn't confrontational in the slightest.

I was merely pointing out that you wrote an article last season accusing Spurs of playing the same players, and this was the reason you dont like internationals (on this article).

Instead of going on the defensive, why dont you just answer it - or justify why you have made these similar comments about club & country?

Not yet it isn`t, but give it another 15 minutes or so, it will become very confrontational, it always does where Chicken is concerned. I find it best just not to get involved with Chicken, these days, he has his views, I have mine.

Weare,

Whether that is "what sandy meant" or not (although i dont know why you have to make excsues for him ), why does it differ to club football, from a Spurs fan's perspective?

Dont we get let down time & time again, but remain fans through thick & thin?

sandy,

You claim its best to not get involved with me, even though you accused me of being confrontational?

Why dont you just answer the question?

For the record, this was your article, written 9 April 2012 (just 6 months ago):

the difference between England and Tottenham is that England players got picked by who they were not how they played

Beckham being a fine example of getting 50 to many caps and just being a money making marketing tool for the FA

Harry played the same players because he did not trust his squad players and played the players he thought were the best
