Advantages
- Rangers are not sen "short circuit" the route back to the top tier.
- Gets the reorganisation we all need
- Allows development teams to play, bring even more youngsters through
- Imagine Rangers and Celtic playing a home game (1 top team, 1 "Colt" every weekend (on alternating sat / sun)
- increased revenue across divisions
Disadvantages
- The SPL did not come up with it, so it must be by definition bad?
Hmmm, I've always argued for cutting the amount of teams but will they just cut the bottom ten teams then?
Let's remember who those bottom ten teams in Scotland are again?
I think the biggest problem with Scottish football is there's too many teams as it stands. Yet we should add another 2?
Sensibleness at last, The SFL are probably more cash rich than the SPL now.
And the SFA they are just gangsters
Sorry I read 18 as 8 there.
I'm too tired, anyway work will be done at 7.
A colt is a young stallion Juke
Thats great news.
Celtic and Rangers to snaffle up all the young talent, if they can't break into the first team at least they can get a game for the colts.
Bravo!!
There must have been some form of dialogue with the SPL as they couldn't just tell Celtic they had to provide another team without any dialogue existing either with Celtic or the SPL.
What is to stop the SPL sides signing up to a new body Henrik?
I am sure it is a yearly contract!
And if the another body is offering change for the better then, why not!
We have far to many teams in Scotland and adding another would not help
I do agree there needs to be a change and split to 3 divisions would be the best idea what I hope they don't agree to is play offs as what's the point of that ?
Relegation yes I can understand that but not a play off to see who wins the league that s pathetic
Anyway I do hope the changes are for the better of our game because god knows we need it
qb - clearly no reconstruction that involves clubs voting to either merge or disband is going to work.
The game in Scotland is in a terminal decline and has been, really, for a good number of years.
Young talent has historically not flourished at the OF for example, as there is so much pressure to win, experienced guys get played and young guys on the bench.
Put out teams filled with the young guys, with less pressure, and it could be win win.
And I would also like to see a regional North and South tier below this who play in play offs to replace the teams from being East Stirling types!
thats what the meeting will be for Henk
Sounds a good idea though
then Junior teams being given the chance to get into these leagues.
The beginning of the end for the SPL?
Hmmm.
It is not a case of havin to many teams, it is a case of living beyond our means and charging too much money to the punter!
It has to be looked at top from bottom, good value family days out and the guy and his wan dog getting value and some change out of £20
Davie, we used to have a reserve league for the youth and fringe players to get a game also guys returning from injury.
I don't want our young starlets playing against cloggers from lower divisions.
Even your own players have complained about that.
Its pretty obvious this is about money
Not that that is a problem the game needs more cash.
Even Rangers clot teams would get better viewing numbers than any other team in the country so a more lucrative deal could be done.
I also assume these colt teams could not be promoted?????
The beginning of the end for the SPL?
Hmmm.
Too right atheist!
And in a way should be the end for the SFL and SFA aswell!
One governing body only!
SAF
Scottish Association Football
44 teams in a country with a population of 5 million.
Aye I can see how everybody's going to gain from this.
qb - it would be less about that. The "cloggers" are out to have a kick at the "big boys".
But if they are in a genuine league, rather than reserve, it can only encourage talent, given the increase in exposure.
Of course, the solution to - what happens if "colt" teams make it to top division, has to be answered....
I also assume these colt teams could not be promoted?????
I think in Spain they cant be promoted above the 2nd division or 1st, but they can play there peers in the cups That would be quite exciting who wid ye support?
Problem is Queb running a reserve team costs!!!!!
oh and colt not clot ya maddy
I don;t know the answer to this, but think on this situation.
Suppose the SFL teams (30 of them) vote that this is a goer.
They then start inviting the SPL teams - some may say yes, some no.
At some point, a tipping point is reached whereby those not yet on board have to join.
