Pitts was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. He played two matches for Middlesex in 1914. He batted once and scored 14 runs, and as a bowler he collected 6 wickets.

Some Iceland stores will open one hour early to allow older shoppers to buy food when it is quieter amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Iceland said it was not a company policy, but it was allowing individual stores to decide how best to meet the needs of shoppers in their local areas.

The move comes as supermarkets continue to try to stop customers stockpiling.

Due to the growing number of countries affected by the COVID-19 virus, the first three meetings of the 2020 Wanda Diamond League season, scheduled for 17th April in Qatar, 9th and 16th May in China, cannot be held as planned.

Efforts will be made to hold them later in the season. Stockholm, on May 24th, becomes the new season-opener at this stage.

Carphone Warehouse to close all standalone stores at cost of 2,900 jobs

The company's standalone stores represent 8% of Dixons Carphone's total UK selling space.

It says the move is "an essential next step" in turning around its mobile business as part of a strategy outlined in December 2018.

The aim is to return this side of the business, which will lose £90m this year, to profitability.

Struggling fashion and home retailer Laura Ashley is to appoint administrators after being hit by the impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

The firm said the outbreak "has had an immediate and significant impact on trading".

It had been in talks with its lenders about accessing sufficient money to allow it to continue trading.

But based on cashflow forecasts and continued virus uncertainty, it said it would not get those funds in time.

Hollywood star Stuart Whitman, who is best known for his numerous Western movies, has died at the age of 92.

The actor passed away on Monday with family around him at his Montecito, California home after complications from skin cancer, a friend of the family told TMZ.

The star worked steadily throughout his career racking up over 90 credits in such hits as 1961's The Comancheros and 1962's The Longest Day.
