Extreme E teams will field one female and one male driver during races when the new climate-aware racing competition begins in 2021.

The series said it wanted to promote "gender equality and a level playing field" within motorsport.

The last woman to compete in a Formula 1 race was Lella Lombardi in 1976.

"It's a giant step. I have been looking forward to something like this my entire racing career," said sportscar driver Katherine Legge.

The all-electric off-road series is set to race in remote locations across the world to raise awareness of climate change and will be streamed live across the BBC.

Bakery chain Greggs has said its planned branch re-openings next week will now begin behind closed doors.

The sausage roll supplier is fearful of "the risk that excessive numbers of customers" may turn up.

Earlier this week, it announced plans to re-open 20 stores in the Newcastle area from Tuesday on a trial basis.

However, Greggs now says the re-openings will only be "to test our new operational safety measures" and it will not allow customers in.

Three senior judges have rejected a posthumous appeal against the conviction of Gordon Park, the so-called "Lady in the Lake" killer.

The body of his wife Carol was found in Coniston Water in the Lake District in 1997, 21 years after she disappeared.

Park was convicted in 2005 and killed himself in prison five years later.

The case, brought by his son, Jeremy Park, was dismissed by the Court of Appeal, which said there was "no reason to doubt the safety of the conviction".

Talks are under way over a historic bout for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Representatives of the two Britons are in dialogue with venues keen to stage the fight in a bid to make clear how much money the contest could generate.

Neither side is negotiating monetary splits or wider demands at this stage.

But Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn said they are "talking" about how a bout for all the heavyweight belts could happen.

One source close to the discussions told BBC Sport they now believe the fight "will happen" and confirmed talks were under way.
