Sean Dyche is expected to be named as Everton's new manager, succeeding the sacked Frank Lampard.

Dyche and former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa were the two main contenders after holding talks with Everton's hierarchy.

Bielsa was initially understood to be the favoured choice of owner Farhad Moshiri but the former Burnley boss is now in pole position.

The Toffees want their new manager in place before the weekend.

Bielsa, 67, expressed reservations about taking over in mid-season and whether the squad would fit his high-intensity and physically demanding style.

There were also doubts over the expensive package his appointment would require.

Talks did not bring any resolution, leaving Dyche as the front-runner, although it remains to be seen what agreement will be reached on length of contract, with the 51-year-old unlikely to simply want a short-term deal.

Everton are next in action on 4 February, when they host Premier League leaders Arsenal at Goodison Park.

Dyche also impressed Everton and the manager sacked by Burnley now looks certain to be given the task of rescuing their troubled season.

An emotional Alfie Hewett claimed his first Australian Open men's wheelchair singles title with victory over Japan's Tokita Oda.

Runner-up in the past two years, Britain's Hewett dominated Oda 6-3 6-1 to add the individual prize to the fourth doubles title he won alongside Gordon Reid on Friday.

It is Hewett's seventh Grand Slam singles title.

He now only needs victory at Wimbledon to complete the career Grand Slam.

Hewett is also a 16-time major doubles champion and completed the calendar Slam with Reid in 2021.

In the women's wheelchair singles, Dutch world number one Diede de Groot recovered from a difficult first set to win her fifth successive Australian Open title.

She beat Yui Kamiji 0-6 6-2 6-2 in one hour and 48 minutes.

Airline Flybe has cancelled all flights to and from the UK after going into administration.

A statement on the airline's website said it had "ceased trading" and told any passengers expecting to travel with it not to go to the airport.

It added that it would not be able to help passengers arrange alternative flights.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said it would provide advice and information to those affected.

Administrators have taken over the company, which only relaunched in April last year.

Belarusian fifth seed Aryna Sabalenka won her first Grand Slam singles title by fighting back to beat Elena Rybakina in the Australian Open final.

In an absorbing contest which showcased the power of both players, 24-year-old Sabalenka triumphed 4-6 6-3 6-4.

Sabalenka, who won under a neutral flag because of Belarus' support of Russia's war in Ukraine, hit 51 winners as her high-risk game paid off in Melbourne.

Kazakhstan's Rybakina was unable to add a second Slam to her Wimbledon title.

Instead it was Sabalenka who put her name on the exclusive list of people to win a major title as she fulfilled her long-seen potential.

Sabalenka could not convert her first three championship points - producing an edgy double fault, pulling a forehand wide and knocking a backhand long - but also held her nerve in between by saving a break point with a hefty unreturned first serve.

At the fourth opportunity, she finally got over the line when 22nd seed Rybakina hit a forehand long.

Sabalenka, full of elation and emotion, instantly fell to the court and covered her face as she cried in celebration.

After returning to her feet and hugging Rybakina, she walked over to her team for a celebration which also left her coach Anton Dubrov sobbing.

Son Heung-min said he needed his two stunning goals against Preston in order to boost his confidence as he helped Tottenham reach the FA Cup fifth round.

The South Korean won the Premier League Golden Boot with 23 goals last season but has so far struggled to match that form in 2022-23.

The 30-year-old was inspired at Deepdale, belting in a 30-yard strike to break the deadlock on 50 minutes.

"I needed those goals for my confidence," Son told BBC Sport.

"As a striker or as an attacking player, the important thing is that you get that goal. It's important that I could help the team go to the next round. I'm very, very happy."

After his opener Son soon doubled the advantage, turning and finishing smartly amid torrential rain.

Arnaut Danjuma, signed on loan from Villarreal this week, completed the scoring after coming on as a late substitute.

Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini praised Son after the game, saying: "Sonny is a great player.

"He has to wait for the right moment to find the space. He was very focused on the match. He had to wait for a right time to do a good job."

Antonio Conte's side go into the draw for the fifth round, which takes place on Monday evening.

Novak Djokovic won a record-extending 10th Australian Open and a record-equalling 22nd Grand Slam men's title by using all of his talent and nous to see off Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Serbia's Djokovic started strongly and dug deep in the second set on his way to a 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5) victory.

The 35-year-old, who draws level with Rafael Nadal in major wins, will return to the world number one ranking.

Greece's Tsitsipas, 24, continues his wait for a first Grand Slam triumph.

"I have to say this has been one of the most challenging tournaments I have ever played in my life considering the circumstances, not playing last year, coming back this year," said Djokovic.

"I try to pinch myself and really live through these moments. It's a long journey. Only the team and the family knows what we have been through in the last four or five weeks.

"I would say this is probably the biggest victory of my life, considering those circumstances."

Tsitsipas lost to Djokovic in his first major final at the 2021 French Open after relinquishing a two-set lead but, this time in Melbourne, he was always chasing the match.

In the few precious opportunities he had to threaten Djokovic - notably a set point to level the match at one set all - the third seed was unable to take them.

Djokovic has not lost at Melbourne Park since 2018 - a streak spanning a record 28 matches in the men's singles.

He has regained the crown which he was unable to defend last year after being deported from Australia following a row over his Covid-19 vaccination status.

Tsitsipas showed resilience to save two championship points but Djokovic took his third chance - this time on his own serve - when his opponent hit a return long.

Djokovic turned to his team and family members - including mother Dijana, although father Srdjan did not appear to be present - standing motionless before pointing to his head and his heart.

After climbing into the box to celebrate with them, he broke into tears as the magnitude of his achievement hit him and continued sobbing under his towel when he returned to his chair.
