Masabumi Hosono survived the Titanic, but not the public's scorn.

A day that has been remembered for more than 100 years, the sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 1912, was a shock to the world when the ship sank on its maiden voyage, losing more than 1500 lives in the process. This luxury ship, which was built starting in 1909, cost around $7,500,000 to build and two workers were lost during the process of building it.

One of the most important lessons learned about the Titanic is that even though many people thought it was “unsinkable”, it is always necessary to have enough lifeboats on board for everyone. Though the ship was equipped to carry 64 lifeboats, there were only 20 on board. These lifeboats on board the Titanic would have been enough for around 1100 people, but the capacity of the ship including passengers and crew was more than 3300.

The more than 700 survivors of the Titanic have all now passed away, the last of whom lived until 2009. Millvina Dean was only two months old when her family boarded the Titanic to move to the US. Her father perished in the shipwreck but she and her brother and mother were rescued in the lifeboats.

Titanic Remembrance Day is here to remind people about this somewhat avoidable tragedy, to remember the lives lost and make an effort to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.

Within five days of the sinking, The New York Times published several columns relating to Ismay's conduct—concerning which "there has been so much comment". Columns included the statement of attorney Karl H. Behr indicating Ismay had helped supervise loading of passengers in lifeboats, and of William E. Carter stating that he and Ismay boarded a lifeboat only after there were no more women.

After being picked up by the Carpathia, Ismay was led to the cabin belonging to the ship's doctor, Frank Mcgee. He gave Captain Rostron a message to send to White Star's New York office:

"Deeply regret advise you Titanic sank this morning fifteenth after collision iceberg, resulting serious loss life further particulars later". Bruce Ismay.

After the disaster, Ismay was savaged by both the American and the British press for deserting the ship while women and children were still on board. Some papers called him the "Coward of the Titanic" or "J. Brute Ismay", and suggested that the White Star flag be changed to a yellow liver. Some ran negative cartoons depicting him deserting the ship. The writer Ben Hecht, then a young newspaperman in Chicago, wrote a scathing poem contrasting the actions of Captain Smith and Ismay. The final verse reads: "To hold your place in the ghastly face / of death on the sea at night / is a seaman's job, but to flee with the mob / is an owner's noble right."

More than a century since the grandest liner ever built sank on its maiden voyage with the loss of more than 1500 lives, the legend of the Titanic still captivates the imagination the world over.

The story of the so-called unsinkable ship, which went down on April 15, 1912 after hitting an iceberg, remains a fascinating tale, laced with luxury, industrial achievement, disaster, heroism, bravery and unspeakable horror.

As such, it is unlikely that the specific circumstances leading to the sinking of the Titanic will recur. But the ocean remains an unpredictable place, fraught with hazards.

Hopefully you do enjoy when it you get round to playing it, seven years was a long time to wait for that disappointment.

thing is, if you didn't like it, I probably won't either, as we had similar feelings about the first game.

I will play it at some point. Will probably put some real time commentary on here if you don't mind?

I hope you enjoy it, it was a hard pill to swallow waiting all that time only to be disappointed.

Having said that I first played TLOU in 2016 not 2013 like many others did.

Think I first completed TLOU just before first trailer of TLOU2 was announced.

Think I did too.

Saw the opening scene with Joel and Ellie, was touching enough. Then got into the snowball fight with the kids.

Just waiting for Joel to die

Carpathia was a single funnel, four masted ship. She was designed for the Cunard immigration service, plying the North Atlantic between Europe and America.
