How does it work supporting 3 London clubs?? hmmmm well....I guess thats not too hard really. Just pray each of them win each week and when they face off hope for a draw or just support the home team?????????

Believe it or not even neutral fans respect Chelsea's identity behind closed door as at the end of the day it was a winning forumla

I never doubted that.

Its true though. We won over so many fans under Carlo's record breaking season. Over course solid success no matter how its won will pull in new supporters as its always done but winning in style with lovely passing and lots of goals will always bring in more fans.

I agree to an extent, but even if we scored 90 goals we still would have won fans. We can say that scoring 103 goals won us more fans than say if we scored 80 or 70 goals. As you said solid success pull supporters.

More importantly players draw supporters. There are many supporters out there especially abroad who dont have any affiliation to support a team, they choose a team based on players they like. Since Chelsea were so effective, our best players could unleash hell therefore bringing in more fans.

Plus Chelsea are an easy team to support for the outsider. Capital club, nice badge, nice stadium, nice name, blue colour as a stand out from all the red clubs.

Disagree. We've developed an identity, or a perception, of being a highly successful footballing organisation through illusion by following similar patterns to clubs such as Real Madrid and Internazionale.

The flippancy towards the management has elevated the standards of all observers to the point where having us outside of major contention in all comps is almost unthinkable regardless of the circumstances or the personnel at our disposal, and it's why no matter how many managers we disrespect we'll always have takers...... it's almost like a company deliberately placing an Indian on tech support to give the illusion that they're bigger than they actually are.

The identity of a club evolves and changes every day, atm ours is tied directly to Abramovich's impulses which i'm sure is alienating pockets of the fanbase.

When I speak about identity, I'm talking more of the fact of what we see on the pitch not off it. This hiring and firing backlash Chelsea recieve is abit too extreme because as you said Real Madrid have been just as bad.

But with regards to playing style, yes I believe the change in Chelsea's personel has eliminated a once successful identity. West Ham game shows that. Chelsea were out muscled off the pitch. Same with the City game. Chelsea couldn't take control because they were out muscled.

I wouldn't call that identity per say, i'd just call it a safety blanket we stuck too. From Mourinho's sacking all the way up until May and the CL win, whenever the team wasn't playing well, was rejecting the systems of the new manager, they always found their way back to the Mourinho way of playing - it was infuriating at times, made them look like one trick ponys.

At this precise moment, we have a new-Arsenal vibe about us. We will get bullied off the pitch by a team solely intent on stopping us, but we're more creative than at any time in the last 10 years, so it's not as if we're not compensating.

At least the one trick pony's trick was the best trick at winning titles.

Yes I definetly see the Arsenal vibe in Chelsea and after speaking with many Chelsea fans who I hang with, this was one of thier fears. Arsenal have been more creative than Chelsea for the past 7 years and haven't won a major trophy. Yes they sold thier best stars but still creativity doesn't guarantee titles. It just makes you more enteratining to watch.

BTW, my article is of echoeing convserations I've had with genuine Chelsea fans so this is not a WUM.

DiderTorres how comes you get let off lightly with your name "former chelsea fan" and teams supported Chelsea and Man City yet I'm branded a WUM? I dont understand???

If you take risks and set out to play attacking football, you risk losing as you leave yourself open. It is harder to win playing like that. The fact Chelsea scored more goals to win the league in their Double year of 38 games than the Man Utd of Law, Best and Charlton did in 42 games to win their titles does not make them the most gung ho side ever though they were clearly far from boring. You can play great football and miss a lot.
