PJS Everyone is overpriced at the minute, especially if they're English.

What makes me laugh is we've bought Downing and Henderson for a combined fee of £36 million and everyone's one our back about it.

United have bought Jones and Young for around the same amount and there's not been a peep. Even though there's similarities between the 4 of them.

They all had good seasons in unconvincing teams. Jones and Henderson are both deemed signings for the future. Downing and Young are at about the same level, although the stats' show Downing to be slightly better.

Yet the similar articles from Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, City and Spurs fans are conspicuous by their absence. Why is that?

Young was woth it, just like Downing. Jones was overpriced and not worth that amount.

you really should'nt make a bet like that Phil. England will call up any player based what club they play for. Andy Carroll wasn't close to the England team before he signed for Liverpool and now he's an automatic first team regular. The national team is more of a joke than Liverpool

Why not make the bet? Not one person has taken me' up on it yet, they can't be that confident of the quality of Henderson. I have seen plenty of games with Rodwell in to know I am safe

My only concern with your bet PJS is that Henderson will have to compete with some serious midfield talent to break in to the first team at Anfield. Given you've only got about a 13 man squad, all Rodwell has to do is turn up to get a game. Saying that, if he plays anywhere near like he did last season, he won't be getting in the England squad for a long time.

Everton can't even a loan player... so we have money and its gets spent..

PJS, as an Everton you'd think you knew a little more about your own player. Rodwell and Henderson have each had 71 appearances each for their respective clubs however Henderson has started more games.

He is also chosen ahead of Rodwell in the U21. Even Mancienne who is actually a defender is getting into the U21 team ahead of Rodwell.


Just a note on this.

JH will play more games at Sunderland because he's not fighting against the quality of players JR is at Everton to get a start.

Re the U21s, JR was coming back from a long term injury, and lacking match fitness.

Also, why has JR been linked with big money moves to MU/CFC/other large European clubs over the last few seasons, but before his England cap, I'd never heard of JH?

Everton did not pay 20m for Henderson. Unlike liverpool they produce their own talent rather than try to buy success. Hope it works. The pressure is on Jenny after his 110m spree: the biggest spend in Europe this year. Anything less than the title is failure
