Lawro on De Gea

De Gea is dodgy. The most ardent united fan knows this. People are so desperate for him to succeed that they overpraise basic saves.

As a neutral i think Lawro has a point. DDG may come good, but atm.................................?

He can look dodgy at times, but he's made very few errors this year. Far less than almost every other keeper in the league

As long as Sir Alex keeps his faith in him I'm not bothered about what Mark Lawrenson says. It is the typical behaviour of over-exaggerating a foreign players mistakes over a British one. De Gea makes mistakes just as any keeper but it's totally blown out of proportion. The media has wanted the boy to fail from day one.

All keepers make errors, but none seem to be highlighted as much as De Gea.

Reina suffered a similar thing when he first came to England.

He made a mistake this weekend spilling out a shot on a slippery surface. Yes it should pushed out of harms way or out for a corner. But it wasn't the worst mistake by a keeper this weekend. And there's plenty more keepers who've performed worse this season. In fact has any keeper really performed as well as they could so far this season? Begovic at Stoke, probably the only one I can think of.

Rob Green and Joe Hart must have some great comments coming their way from Lawro after their howlers then

Begovic...rumour has it

Lawro/Hansen/Shearer all pretty boring.

So they stoop to TalkSport's level to get a response.

United are the biggest and most followed club in the world, so are an obvious target.

If Mark Schwarzer was/is making howlers, quite frankly, no-one cares.

Ex-Liverpool player criticises man utd player. Big news.

Thing is, for almost a year now De Gea has been making no more mistakes than all the supposedly top keepers in world football, yet people make out he still does on a regular basis.

Not saying he's the top keeper in the world, as I don't think he is, but I find it harsh when Hart and Neuer (apparently world class keepers) make more mistakes than him but get nowhere near as much criticism.

To be honest I'm not worried about De Gea at all, my only concern about Utd is the midfield.

We are weak in that area despite what Fergie says, we get easily overrun and teams get at us very easily.

The keeper and defenders are always under pressure.

De Gea is going to be an awesome keeper, idiots like Lawro just spout utter tripe to suit their own agenda.

He seems to let a lot of goals in and never seems to keep a clean sheet.
I would like to see another keeper brought in asap as I just don't think De Gea will make it in the prem, there is always a time in a match when you fear he will make an error and even when he doesn't he seems to let a goal in that a very good keeper wouldn't have.

De Gea doesn't have the physical stature or personality

He's not suited to English football imo

Big/commanding GKs always prevail over the short/shot stoppers

you have to laugh when joe hart has cost city both games against real madrid in the champions league, the derby vs utd, england 3 points in poland and the game at the weekend and yet he is still the best thing since sliced bread, de gea has made 3 errors this season, 1 vs fulham (utd won) 1 vs newcastle away (utd won) 1 vs newcastle at home (utd won) and yet de gea is some clutz who shouldnt be playing in goal

And DDG has had to deal with all the defensive injuries we've had in the last two years as well as a language barrier.

How many times has he played behind the same back four in consecutive games?
