Having checked the statistics across several websites, I can conclude de gea is actually the best gk in the league so don't know where lawro gets this bs from.

Everybody has already forgotten about Harts error.

i wouldnt say de gea is the best in the league, but he is up there with most of them, id say cech is probably the best overall, but de gea is 22 years old, people forget this, he probably wont be in his prime for another 7-10 years he's already IMO the best shot stopper in the league and has improved massively on his command of his area, he still has faults but i would wager in 3 years time he'll be one of the best in the world

Hart is very error prone

hart isnt all that, because he's english like most english players they are overhyped (even rooney) look at oxlade-chamberlain he's average and yet we're supposed to believe they are future world beaters, well they aren't and never will be

Following in the footsteps of The Great Dane and VDS, De Gea is always on a loser with the media.

We had a few poor/shíte ones in between those two, and United may well again before the next exceptional goalkeeper emerges.

Thank your lucky stars that you don't support a club who only ever have reasonable/good goalkeepers. We've been blessed down the years with fantastic ones - going even further back than my own memory - Stepney.

However good or bad De Gea is or will be, in the eyes of the media, and other clubs' fans, he is the new Taibi.

Forest fan in peace.

I have De Gea in my dreamteam for the Sun.

I've seen games that he has single-handedly kept you in games (Not being critical, but some games he has been pulling off top saves) and very rarely gets a good rating!!

It seems people really want him to fail unfortunately, when I think he has played very well this season.

United keeper are always going to get this sort of attention, unfortunately. They are expected to be invincible just because he plays for United and cost a lot. The reality is that he is human like the rest of us and he makes mistakes like the rest of us. He is still a top keeper and improving.

As for Lawro, he knows less about football than Rob

Quite happy with De Gea, would be nice if he was better but at the age of 22 I wouldn't expect too much more from him. I think he has looked pretty good this season and would echo what someone said earlier about him being among the top goalkeepers in the world in a few years (probably thinking closer to a 5 year timeline though)

I think his only real weakness is crosses in the box, challenging opposition players to either catch the ball or punch it out.

I would say his save at Newcastle was shocking but he has been good for us this year.

De Gea is young and has bags of potential, but the defenders in front of him don't trust him one jot as anything other than a shot-stopper. That's why we're shipping goals.

posted on 28/12/12

no we are shipping goals because our defenders haven't been good enough and there is little midfield protection.

on saturday, carrick gave the ball away for the first (also rio didnt track the goal scorer). second was an own goal that shouldnt have stood. third was ridiculous as cisse was unmarked in the box, no chance for de gea.

first one you can fault him a little but it was a slippery surface. but the others weren't down to lack of confidence in the keeper, it was just bad team defending.

fergie favours attack over defence, starts giggs AND scholes, then wonders why we concede so many goals.

Incredible how Utd fans feel no one is allowed to criticse any of their players. Just incredible.

Incredible how Santi's can not figure out the difference between fans criticising (what they feel is) unwarranted criticism and deserved criticism. Just incredible.

I think his problem was with pundits eyesights, seeing things that didn't happen. It's not been resolved, no.
