I did say in general and that there are exceptions, also i did mention stats being more useful for judging strikers and wingers.

If it's useful for judging wingers then surely the same goes for attacking midfielders?

Stats mean nothing. Misleading BS.

stats can be useful but not as important as watching players, stats don't tell you about the style of play, strengths, weaknesses etc.

A lot of posts here are trying very hard to be facetious. Of course statistics are not the only determining factor when judging players. Statistics on their own can be misleading.

However they do give an insight on how important a player is to a team. Zaha was not on anyone's radar until Arsene announced that Pat Rice should scout him for us. If Arsene was that serious do you think he would have told everyone?

We will see if he is a target or another red herring. And if does come he will have to do quite a bit more than he has done at level below the premier league. That doesn't mean he doesn't have it in him. But its taking a big chance when we already have two under-performing wingers still at Arsenal.

Its Wilfried Zaha's style of play that sets him apart from different wingers

Hes a very unpredictable winger theres not many wingers like him 2 footed, can go both ways, using tricks with both feet and being able to hold of player having his back to goal

Hes got power/strength to match with his technical ability which makes him even more difficult to handle

But look at Wrighty when he came to us, and look how he progressed.

Are you kidding?

He was on his uppers having been knocked back by Brighton in a trial.
The rest is history bud.

Jenius, I swear you should make a twitter account. Your ITK style would earn you thousands of followers.

Opinions are biased. Stats aren't. I agree there are always exceptions but in general all the best strikers in the world have the best stats (unless they are in a rubbish league). There are few examples of stats being "misleading BS" compared to the thousands and thousands of examples of stats being correct. Strikers jobs are to score and create goals.

There are more than 'a few exceptions' mate. There are hundreds.

5 goals in 26 games for a winger isn't bad at all. Hleb scored about 7 league goals in his PL career. Old John Lennon down the lane averages 3 a season, Stewart Downing gets 1 a season.

However, I personally don't see Zaha as a good buy. We have plenty with similar potential at the club already who can play wide (Afobe, Ryo, Gnabry, Campbell, Eisfeld can play there, Toral etc) Rather we tried to develop the youngsters we already have than buy another youngster with potential. We have enough first team players who can play wide, so unless it is a proven winger bought in then there is little point imo.

Its just stupid to judge young players on their goals/assists stats

When you play for a lower league team on the wing your less likely to get as many assists/goals if you play in a top team better players, better service etc

football isn't a science, watching players is far more important than stats.

Surely we have enough young players, we need a winger with top level experience.

Zaha is ready to play premiership football according to Mark Bright.

Is this the same Mark Bright who said last year that Liverpool will win the league?
