"Modric’s poor run of form has coincided with Real Madrid’s dismal period in the league" - love this!! I worshipped the little fella when he wore our shirt, but his refusal to play / head "not being right" while we continued to pay him a fortune was outrageous. Karma bites!!

The grass is drier, warmer and covered in lots of euros though.

These 2 points are a bit contradicting:

"In total he has only completed 717 minutes of the 1530 minutes in the league since his arrival".

And:

"Modric’s poor run of form has coincided with Real Madrid’s dismal period in the league".

Either he's the reason for their poor form or he hasnt played much - which one is it?

maybe chelsea need a another midfielder
i miss him as a player but not for how he behaved

Still if your manager does not respect the club at the time how can you ask players too

On a serious note, these players need to be careful what they wish for. The grass isn't always greener

Let's make a bid of 10 mill and buy him back

Chicken, think the journo is trying to make 2 points:

- for a £33m signing, 717 of 1530 minutes is not very much. Mourinho obviously can't trust him as a player as much as he would have wanted in she;lling out that much cash.

- However, 717 of 1530 minutes is still a long time on a football pitch - nearly half the matches. In that time he has contributed very little, 1 goal, little creativity. And when he has been getting game time, RM have not got the points they need and expect.

Simples!!

Hi Muswell. Do you think Levy / the fans would accept him back? Is it not similar / identical to Berba leaving? I know you were probably joking, but it may turn out to be a possibility...buying him back. What with the deal we have with Madrid. Maybe 1 more season of him not performing and they might look to shift him again - £13-5?

Spot on by Biglaa.

Modric must be struggling to count his money through the tears of worry about some survey that he's probably never read.

It won't be long before gareth 'the swan' bale has the same problem no doubt........

Gareth will no doubt read this story with interest.. he's one of our top earners and a fan favourite, guaranteed first team football in a team that allows him to shine..

If he really wants to follow Luka's ungrateful footsteps so be it, we'll get top dollar for him.. even if we don't spend it all on replacing him

I would not want Modric anywhere near WHL again, he disrespected the club, and frankly he went missing in nearly every big game away from WHL. I reckon Spurs are much stronger in midfield now he has gone.

sandy - inclined to agree. Let's face it...Berba also left to go to one of the biggest clubs in the world...maybe the 2nd biggest after RM. It was the lack of respect Modric showed to the club that p1ssed me off. Not sure why everyone is so quick to forgive him, yet Berba was a different kettle of fish?

Pasiley / Biglaa - I hear you! Doubt the little fella's losing too much sleep over it.

But we did OK from that deal too by the looks of things. Only real losers are Mourinho & Real Madrid.

Dammit I agree with Sindy AGAIN

If people remember rightly it actually took Luka quite a while to settle at WHL before he became a favourite.

He is a great footballer but IMO a return is out of the question. Firstly he took the pee out of our wonderful THFC and the fans, secondly a return rarely works. Think back to Robbie Keane

I agree with Sandy and Grumpy

I never wanted him to leave, classy player, but after he forced a move he can stay gone.

Teddy is of course the benchmark.
Not despised for his ambition, nor the manner of his leaving.
Welcomed back with open arms when he took an opportunity to return.

Berbatoss and Modric burnt their bridges.

IMHO Modric really wanted to stay in the PL, but with Spurs as they are, our best players are going to have to satisfy their ambition overseas from now on it seems.

Or a PL club must face the Levy tax.
