"Emirates cup- arsenal"

I have no idea what's going to happen and much depends on what happens in the rest of the transfer window. However, as things stand, it seems to me the City have improved more than the club they finished equal on points with. Chelsea haven't yet solved any of the big problems with their squad (lack of creativity coupled with decline of Essien) and have once again created instability by sacking a manager for failing to win the CL in two seasons.

As a United supporter, I fear City most at the moment. Last season they had a great squad on paper and began to build up momentum and some team bonds. So far they have not had much upheaval but have added a fantastically talented young forward, whom any club would covet. I put them marginally ahead in the title race at this point - with the hope that United will edge hypothetically ahead by strengthening our midfield.

By contrast, Chelsea (though real contenders) need a lot of things to go right to win the title: they need the new manager to be an instant success, creating belief in the team and getting the right formation with the players at his disposal; they need to bring in the right players; they need those players to bed in quickly; they need to resolve the issue of certain combinations of players not working. I'm certainly not writing Chelsea off but I'd be more confident of them challenging in the second year of AVB's project (if Abramovich gives him a second year).

Question: why did you opt to post a prediction in which Man Utd don't win anything only on the Man Utd board? Are you the kid at school who constantly flicks objects at the one sitting in front of him and then quickly turns away looking innocent?

Red Russian - the thing about the Chelsea team, is essentially we know that it can compete. Last season was the worst I remember as a Chelsea fan for several years, not just for results but for our style of play. We performed seriously below capability.

And even then, City didn't overtake us.

So, the question is, has the Chelsea team lost it permanently, or was last season a huge blip? Most likely, some players have lost it and some can recover. You're right to say we need signings, but with one or two it would be foolish to write us off.

This season coming will be a three way battle for the prem, and trying to predict the winner is futile.

1905- by the way, was when chelsea came into existence. And I was at a game in 2001, when Chelsea thrashed liverpool 4-0 at the bridge, and at the game where (completely cash strapped), we sealed a 4th place finish by beating you 2-1 at the bridge. You got UEFA Cup the next season instead. So hardly established in 2003.

As supposed to your captain John terry's bedroom, kitchen table and dark ally way activaties with his teammates wags? Oh and lets not forget his dad is a coke dealer while his mum is a shoplifter. Pillers of the community.

-

Or Steven Gerrartd, who punched a man and got all his cronies to lynch on him just so he'd turn down the volume of a song at a club.

By the way, none of the Terry allegations were proved, whilst we can see on CCTV footage what Gerrard and Carroll have done.

And guess what, Terry is England Captain. Wayyyy!

Not surprised judging the police force who was investigating. Brown envelopes anyone?

Just go off and enjoy Channel Five footy, wait you can't even watch that.

The history shouldn't be lived in throughout the present. Chelsea have good fans who have experienced the bad in an accepting manner and enjoy our current decade of success. Meanwhile Scousers all pretend its 1986 and say that Liverpool deserve attention for achieving things 20 years ago, and doing buggger all since then.
