SUNDERLAND vs. West Ham

-----------------------Mignolet-----------------------
--Walker----Smalling----Subotic------Cole---
-----------Cattermole-------Sissoko-------------
---------------------------Pirlo-------------------------
---Reus--------------------------------Rodriguez--
----------------------------Villa------------------------

Subs: Westwood, Brown, Martin, Hargreaves, Hoolahan, Beckham, Austin

300 Word Tactical Brief:- (+10% leeway )

General - Get on the ball, control game. Quieten home crowd.

GK – Be strong in coming for aerial balls. West Ham are very small up front so Mignolet won’t have trouble commanding his area. Must ensure good communication with the CB’s when coming out to collect.
FB - Don’t get tempted to follow wingers in if they cut inside, Sissoko and Cattermole will cover. Force wingers out wide into crossing positions which won’t suit Tevez. When attacking they will overlap, but they will never both attack, must ensure three defenders stay back at all times in case of counter-attacks.
CB – Subotic and Smalling are brilliant defenders, and they come into their own when dealing with threats from the ground. Tevez will be the main danger, but his style of play comes straight into my lads’ skillset. They musn’t get drawn out of position when Tevez drops deep, allow the DM’s can pick him up.
DM – Cattermole in particular is to sit deep, picking up Tevez. Cattermole and Sissoko are full of running and are strong tacklers so they should really dent any hopes of West Ham securing anything today. Sissoko will be given some freedom if an attack really gains momentum, he will bomb forward to add more bodies upfront.
Pirlo – Get the ball. Control the game. He is the start point to most of the attacks. Defensively astute too, but shouldn’t get pinned back helping out, we shouldn’t need it.
Forwards – The trio of Rodriguez, Reus and Villa will be an offensive hurricane which should really punish West Ham’s weakest area, defence. The opposition defenders, and DM, really lack pace which is something my three have in abundance. Villa will play centrally, and Reus on the right, Rodriguez on the left, but they shouldn’t be afraid to switch sides. Villa is a born finisher, and with Reus, Rodriguez, Pirlo and the two fullbacks serving him he can expect goals, as can the other two forwards.

Substitutions -

Winning:
At 60 - Hargreaves on for Sissoko - Slightly more defensive try and shore up the defensive side. Also adds and offensive element as he can spread the ball very well

At 75 - Pirlo off for Hoolahan - Fresh legs and a like for like change really. Brown on for Walker - More experience on to help see out the game. Brown's been in this situation hundreds of times with United, he knows what it takes to secure a win.

Losing/Drawing:

At 60 - To lose or draw the first game of the season isn't good enough, go for the win. Bring on Austin for Cattermole - Play 4-4-2 with Sissoko and Pirlo controlling the game from deep whilst also covering the defence. Austin is a natural poacher and should help Villa find space in the West Ham box.

at 75 - Push Pirlo back up to CAM, Sissoko acts as a one man wall against West Ham's Coutinho.

Set Pieces:

FK - Pirlo
Penalty - Villa
Corners - Left - Pirlo Right - Rodriguez
Captain: Pirlo

-------------------------Scwarzer--------------
Montoya------N'Koulou---------Dante------Schmelzer
--------------M.Veratti--------Ilkay Gundogan-----
-Wilfried Zaha------K.De Bruyne----------J.Draxler
----------------------Wilfried Bony--------

Subs: Livaja, Weimann, Kacaniklic, Ginter, Kasami

We have Dante and N'Koulou at Center-back, and they must remain solid up against some good strikers. They will win every ball and win every 50-50 duel, as we want to keep a clean sheet. Our aim in this game is to look to supply our main striker, Bony, and as he has shown the world, his finishing is second to none, so we will look to our midfield to supply Bony with those chances that he will finish off. Veratti and Gundogan in the centre of the Park offer creativity from CM, and both of their passing skills are top notch. Veratti will be the more defensive of the 2 CM’s. He will prevent the opposition from breaking out on the counter. Veratti and Gundogan will be the ones to supply Bony with those long, cross field passes that will split the opposition defence. Just in front of them is the Classy De Bruyne, and he will get up to support Bony from AM. His trickery and cleverness will be a great asset in helping us unlock a stubborn defence, and with Veratti and Gundogan behind, he should have no lack of support. Up front Bony is a great finishers, and together with out wingers, they should prove to be a right handful for the opposition defence. On the left Draxler is one of the best teenagers around, and he shall look to take on his man, and drift inside to release those pile drivers, or sweep in great crosses onto the head of Bony. Zaha should look to rampage down the right and dazzle the opposition with his skill, as he is known for beating his man, but he has to cut the ball back when in a promising area

Villa team and tactics:

-------------------------Buffon-----------------------

van Rhijn-----Godin------Vertonghen----Taylor

---------------Britton-------Iturraspe----------------

Lens-------------------Maher--------------Fischer

------------------------Martinez----------------------

Subs:
Lindegaard, Shawcross, Buttner, Rafinha, Cuenca, Adam, Graham

Set pieces:
Pens: Martinez
Freekicks: Britton
Corners: Lens
Captain: Vertonghen

In todays game we plan to attack high up the pitch with Lens, Maher and Fischer putting pressure on Norwich's back four. All three will play neat little passes in tiangle form and get the ball forward to Martinez to put the ball into the neat. Iturraspe and Britton will protect the back four from the opposition's midfield and make sure they don't get in the box by been strong but not agressive in their tackles. Britton should be the one passing the ball forward to our more creative players. van Rhijn and Taylor are encouraged to go and overlap our wingers Lens and FIscher, both will play one-two's with them and get ball's into the box high or low for Martinez to get on the end of. Both also need to be big and strong in their tackling as well. Vertonghen and Godin will lead our team from the back both will be big and strong in the air and with their tackling as well. Both will set off our attacks as well by getting the ball out of the box and passing it forward to our DM's or Fullbacks. Buffon is to be big and strong in the air and when it come's to one-on-one's with the opposition players. He is also to command his area and the players in front of him. Going back to my front four all of them can have shots on goal from outside the box.

Subs:
Graham on for Martinez on 75 minutes: Like for like

Rafinha on for Britton on 80 minutes: like for like, maybe a little more attacking from Raf.

Cuenca on for Lens on 80 minutes: Like for like change.

--------------------------------Ter Stegen---------------------------
-----------Rafael------Matip----------Ferdinand----A Sandro-
-------------------------Sandro--------Cleverley------------------
-------Blaszcykowski--------Holtby--------------El Sharawwy-
---------------------------------Di Natale-----------------------------

Subs: Butland, Stones, Kirchhoff, Pogba, Kovacic, Atsu, Zamora

We will be playing a high pressing and attacking game against West Ham as we seek to dominate the opposition. We will be playing quick moving and direct ball along the floor in order to get it to our attacking players who will run directly at their defence and trouble them with pace and passing, whilst Di Natale will lead from the front as a poacher in the box. Our midfield possess energy and drive with Sandro there to break up the play, whilst Cleverley is a box-to-box midfielder capable of aiding attack and defence. Their wingers are a weaknesss and can be pinned back by our marauding full backs, who will be a part of our high defensive line whilst Ferdinand will 'cover' through balls and Matip will mark the main striker. Ter Stegen will claim any balls into the box and organise the defence. We want to dominate the game, and will do so with an attacking style of play.

Subs:

Pogba on for Cleverley after 65 Mins whatever the score as well as Atsu on for Di Natale, with El Sharawwy moving to CF.an
If winning after 75 mins, Kovacic on for Holtby drops deeper into 3 man midifeld.

Friendly - STOKE CITY v Fulham
----------------------Bergovic
Crescenzi-----Varane-----Huth-----Wilson
----------------------N'Zonzi
Shotton-----------Ganso----------Etherington
------------Walters----------Muniane
Subs
Sorensen, Dunn, Wilkinson, Whelan, Delf, Kightley, Jones

Formation
An attack-minded 4-1-3-2 formation. Home advantage will be crucial, so I want the team to come out of the blocks quickly and press Fulham early to get the lead.

Keeper
When distributing the ball, he should look to short passes to defence or N'Zonzi. He should only punt it if no options available. At crosses and set pieces, should look to catch rather than punch.

Defence
Crescenzi and Wilson should look after their defensive duties first and foremost, but look to get forward when we are having periods of dominance. Huth will lead the line and Varane will keep close to Huth to reduce the gap through the middle.

Midfield
N'Zonzi will break up play and look to play wide at every opportunity. Wingers should help out full backs when necessary, but look for the angled balls from N'Zonzi. They have been instructed to press the opposition fullbacks to minimise their time on the ball. Ganso has a free role, and he should link play just behind the strikers, looking to lose his marker and pull their midfield out of position.

Strikers
Muniane will play slightly deeper and off to the left to support Etherington. Walters will play right at the top and try pulling their CB's apart to allow Muniane and Ganso to exploit the gaps with forward runs. All three attacking players are instructed to shoot when in sight of goal.

Set Pieces
Corners - Shotton and Etherington take in swinging corners, the 2 CB's go into the box, N'Zonzi and the full backs stay back to prevent counters, the CB's and Walters attack the ball, the other CMs and wingers take positions just outside the box to pick up any weak defensive headers or knockdowns.

Free Kicks - For direct FK's N'Zonzi and Etherington will shoot depending on which foot it favours. For Indirect FKs, player nearest to position will take.

Penalties - Etherington is the designated taker.

Subs
Keeping this simple. Where possible, subs will be like for like. No subs before 70 mins unless a player is injured.

-------------------------Benaglio
Jenkinson------Mbiwa-----Mexes-----Monreal
-------------Coquelin----Sahin
Ben Arfa------------Berbatov-----Ince
------------------------Ba

Subs – Weidenfeller, Rafinha, Chiriches, Diaby, Koke, Gomez, Henriksen

Game Plan – Our aim is to play to play our football on the ground. We will keep our passing short but with pace. We must keep to our position while always creating yourself as an option for the player on the ball. We must work as a unit and as a team that wont be broken. Keep your positions tight and secure while off the ball but feel free to roam about into space a bit more while on the ball.

Benaglio should keep command of his defence, keeping them in their positions and keeping their concentration up.

Jenkinson and Monreal must make sure their wingers are pushed out wide forcing them to make crosses. Do not let other players overlap you in the process. Push them to use their weaker foot and then make pointless runs back. They are also asked to make runs forward to help attack. Mbiwa and Mexes must stay deep and force out any potential attacks. They must force the striker out of the game and allow no space for him to exploit.

Coquelin and Sahin must command possession by acting as protection of the back 4 and then supplying the ball to the wings or if possible to a player in space. Coquelin should keep with their main playmaker. Ben Arfa and Ince should look to make runs into the box and then create chances for the other players around them. If they are blocked out they should use the full backs who are helping in attack.

Berbatov should act as a second striker who is trying to create opportunities for Ba. However he should get into space and try and score too. He should use the wingers.

Ba should just look to get into goalscoring positions by using his pace and strength to force his way into the box.

FK: Ben Arfa
CK: Ince
PK: Berbatov
Captain: Berbatov
Vice Captain: Mexes

Forren
Schneiderlin
Puncheon

Basic 4-4-2 formation. Hugely experienced centre half pairing to orchestrate defence. Fullbacks have licence to push forward to support attack when in possession adding pace and overlap options.

Lampard to play as deep lying playmaker linking play and picking out passes to Ramirez and the wide men, looking to break quickly. Lallana to sit deep and break up play. If Lampard goes forward, Lallana stays back and vice versa to protect the back four.

Afellay and Grosskreutz to provide width, take on fullbacks and provide crosses for Drogba. When not in possession, wide men to support fullbacks defending.

Ramirez to pull the strings in midfield. We will look to get the ball to him as often ad possible. If he is marked, look for wide men or long to Drogba.

Drogba to do what he is the best at. Dominate defenders, hold the ball up, bring midfield into play and score goals or make chances for others.

Subs
If winning, Schneiderlin for Grosskreutz on 70 mins to provide central midfield 3. Ramirez left wing forward.

If losing, Lambert for Grosskreutz 65 mins, up top with Drogba, diamond midfield with Ramirez top, Lampard right, Afellay left, Lallana pivot. Fullbacks to provide width and pin opposition back.
