So you deluded united fans recon de gea was better value than Hart?

In fact I got my sums wrong he's under 1/16th the cost of donut boy an you can't see how in comparison he's a bad transfer.

Blinkered arrogant united fans.

Loz just when I think you are turning a corner you go and make above comments like that.

If De Gea reitred today, based on performances & fee, he'd be considered the single biggest flop of a keeper of all time. Without question.
======

still only 22, great shot stopper just needs to work on his crosses. if he gets that sorted soon he could be one of the great premiership keepers

For size of fee and flop rating then its neck and neck between Torres and Carroll..

Winston, you're right, my last sentence to you was unnecessary, and for that I apologise.

It's too early and unfair to judge him now.

just saying if you had to judge today, the results wouldn't be pretty. At all.

at least torres plays. alberto aquilani and robbie keane. now they were expensive flops for liverpool. for everton remember per koldrup? i remember him coming out after his first game saying along the lines of "i dont like the physical side of the premiership" 2 days later he was sold! and that's a defender!

Has De Gea really been that bad?

Scezney is a good shot stopper but makes loads of mistakes, Pepe Reina flaps goalkicks every other game, Hart like De Gea is a world class shotstopper but makes a few mistakes, Cech is probably the only keeper who makes few mistakes.

This time its getting blown well out of proportion.

for £17mil

absolutely.

=====

cech imo is the only keeper who could rival seaman and the big dane as the top prem keepers

Henrik Larsson, as much as I like him, is up there as well.

One of the best strikers going came to a side that scores for fun, managed to only score one goal, then left.

The fee (none) makes it not a big deal, but the expectation v results was horrendous.

17M is not that much for a keeper who will probably give us 10 years plus.

The potential is unreal and even the mistakes he made in his first year are being ironed out.

I cant believe fans are writing him off already saying he is a waste of money when he is only in his second year

Joley...

We never made a loss. Plus he looked a bit like Luke Skywalker

agreed

it's ridiculous and kneejerk

de gea is 2nd most expensive gk in history, so of course this is expensive for a goalkeeper.

Carroll is no longer part of BR's plans so you can say yes for that money he is a flop.

But De Gea is seen as the long term successor.

If he gives us 10 years for 17M that is a snip.

People need to watch the other keepers properly next time and see how error prone they are.

And he needs to be judged after he has settled down not in his second year.

He is our number 1 keeper and we certainly rate him, he is 22 coming from a foreign country and I think he is doing damn well.

De Gea is a weak link - no doubt about it.

It seems that people are so keen for him to succeed that they will overpraise any old save.

By and large he hasn't been the kepper United had hoped for.

And as for 'one of the great premier league keepers' shout - that's a bit of a statement given his questionable form

It's a bit harsh to put de gea in this arguement. He's still learning the game and the money united paid for him is for a potential 15 year investment. Keepers don't peak until early 30's generally

Sorry but the most expensive keeper in British history can't even hold down the number one spot at his club.

Correct, he's under just as much scrutiny as joe Hart!

Joe has produced performances this season that were absolutely world class.

De Gea hasn't, an in my opinion his performances coupled with his price tag makes him a bad signing.

I'm stating my opinions that's all.

Do any of you watch United?

He is much better from crosses and seems to be a bit more commanding.

He certainly has potential to be one of the best but has a long way to go.

Just as its too soon to judge him on being one of the best, its too soon to say he is a flop.

One of the biggest mistakes we ever did was let Friedel go

Having said that - we wouldn't have had the 'Du the Dudek'
