I'll reserve judgment until it starts. I'm not a massive fan of it though, purely because I like seeing the different takes that countries have on it when they host, in terms of the differences in culture. I prefer it when the competitions immerse themselves in one location.
at least it'll stop the English with this ridiculous tirade against any country that gets awarded the international competitions.
---------------
Quite the opposite. They'll just have more countries to moan about.
The best thing about the idea is that smaller countries like Scotland, Ireland, Norway etc could get a big game in their country.
Being Australian I can assure you that Europe is a very small continent and very cheap to get around.
"Also the alternative would have been Azerbaijan joint hosting with Georgia. Those worried about the fans seem happy to send them off to such a country with awful human rights."
Georgia has great human rights and in fact people are much more respectful of each other there. Have you ever been to Georgia or Azerbaijan?
Russia's world cup will almost all be based in the west of the country. I very much doubt we'll see any games nearer China for instance
===========
From Kaliningrad in the west to Yekateringburg in the East, from St Petersburg in the North to Sochi in the south is a greater area than the rest of Europe I believe.
Chronic, this is UEFA we're talking about here, because teams can hire private jets they assume the fans can as well. My mates who went to the last Euros had to make 4 seperate trips to the Ukraine because there was no car-hire, no internal flights available and the trains were fully booked up. Imagine what it would be like getting around Europe if we were playing in similar, less developed countries.

TooR, I was talking about Azerbaijan, hence why I distinguished between Azerbaijan and Georgia. And no I have never been to Azerbaijan as I don't support the way the country is run.
What a stupid idea. Why not just hold it in a country that has the stadia and infrastructure? If your bid includes building an airport you can't be serious about it

Well Kaliningrad is just under Lithuania and not even connected to Russia, so you can't really say from Kaliningrad to...whereever as there's a huge gap, filled by other countries.
Brazil is 8.5million km^2
Europe, with a good chunk of Eastern Europe probably ruled out of hosting games, will not be that much greater.
Being Australian I can assure you that Europe is a very small continent and very cheap to get around.
...You mean Western Europe. The countries that qualify for European football status run from the Arctic down to the Middle East and from the Atlantic to the Chinese border.
Fellainis Pirouette.
You are forgetting a key point. No suitable nation bid to host it.
Turkey were going to bid, but stalled because they were in for the Olympics.
remember they'll organise it in a way that you'll stay in a specific region e.g. england will play in spain/portugal while another country would be poland/ukraine
they're obviously not going to have 1 game in russia and the next in italy

Oh no, you mis-understand. I meant the English media and its sheep, not all English people.

Well, for the sake of this article I mean from Scandinavia down to Spain and east as far as Moscow,
Well Kaliningrad is just under Lithuania and not even connected to Russia, so you can't really say from Kaliningrad to...whereever as there's a huge gap, filled by other countries.

Kaliningrad is a host city though, hence why I picked that as the furthest West
"Well Kaliningrad is just under Lithuania and not even connected to Russia, so you can't really say from Kaliningrad to...whereever as there's a huge gap, filled by other countries."
To be fair, compared to the scale of Russia, that gap is sod all.
Well, for the sake of this article I mean from Scandinavia down to Spain and east as far as Moscow,
Kazakhstan (which borders China) and Isreal are both part of UEFA and have a good chance of qualifing as host nations.
Jeez.
Im sure the FA would have offered, but Platini.....
Lets say he was behind anything that stopped it being held here. He will be worse for FIFA than that idiot Blatter
The groups should be easy to sort out. The trouble comes in the knockout stages, as there will be no way to predict which 3rd place teams will be best placed and all that.
You stick to your Irish media TOOR and the potatoes that follow it
You have to jump through a lot of hoops to get a Russian visa and even more hoops if you want to include Kaliningrad in your itinery.
I'd think UEFA would be reluctant to give games to Israel or Kazakhstan.
The OP mentioned there being 13 countries.
I am guessing, that England, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Holland will represent more than half of the countries to have games.
