And it's funny the ones I meet in other countries are fine. It seems to be the ones who haven't been to the countries they're moaning about aren't.

TOOR
And I'm saying the Irish like the craic as much as anyone
I've been to Dublin and never seen so many people smashed on a weekend night
What you are implying is that it's just the English that have these 'types' which is bollox
Have to go TOOR so please do me a favour and stop the insults. I'd rather not lose my rights to multiboard a thread because I haven't modded it correctly k?
Be back later
------------------------------
Also I wasn't talking about anybody getting smashed. I was talking about the perceptions of other countries by many of the people in the UK, created by the media and followed by the sheep, without them even visiting the countries themselves.
South Africa World Cup? They're all thieves. Ended up a good competition with few incidents.
Poland and Ukraine Euro's? They're racists. Ended up a good competition with few incidents.
It happens everytime as people go by what they read and not what they actually find out for themselves. It's ignorance and arrogance, in my opinion.
I think the competition will be accessible to more people in this format, countries are going to be playing all their matches in one area.
There will be 13 different stadia used.. One stadia per country, so that means 13 different countries. The stadia HAVE to meet certain criteria so that will restrict it.
We'll have :
England (Wembley)
Spain (Bernabeu for political reasons)
France (parc de prince)
Holland (Amsterdam arena)
Italy (San Siro / Olympic stadium Rome)
Germany (Allianz arena)
Turkey (Ataturk Stadium )
Portugal (stadio de la luz)
Scotland (hampden)
Poland (Warsaw)
Ukraine (Kiev)
Russia (Moscow)
Greece (Athens)
Countries close to those stadia will play at those venues.
Travelling further may only be necessary if the teams progress... Which actually limits travel.
I think at the very least it is worth a try.

Must have missed all the violence, especially when the Russians came to town...

So the draw will be fixed by geography rather than coefficients?
Perhaps macaroni ... but I could be wrong... They may draw the groups and then draw the venues based on how the groups are drawn.
^ which would be far better

There are incidents and every competition, just look at Euro 96.
They should choose an amount of stadium they want to use, then when the groups are drawn, work out the best way to fit the games into these stadiums.
Each team should travel around the same distance as it wouldn't be fair to travel further than the others.
I think EURO2012 across the continent is a brilliant idea.
Those 'loyal international fans' can still be loyal to their team. Yet those who are usually unable to attend international matches also get the chance to see live competitive football.
If it is run and organized properly (which it probably won't be), IMO EURO2012 will be the best one yet
It should be held in.......
...Stoneybridge!
TOOR. They've already said a maximum of 13 stadia.
One of which will hold the semi finals and final! (Rumours are its wembley)
Sh/it no idea why i put 2012 twice. Once would be acceptable, but after repeating the mistake it is clear that I am a re/tard.

Well 13 stadiums isn't that many when you think about it so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Ron you saved me insulting you and Macca having a fit. Thank you.

Hence my list above
England (Wembley)
Spain (Bernabeu for political reasons)
France (parc de prince)
Holland (Amsterdam arena)
Italy (San Siro / Olympic stadium Rome)
Germany (Allianz arena)
Turkey (Ataturk Stadium )
Portugal (stadio de la luz)
Scotland (hampden)
Poland (Warsaw)
Ukraine (Kiev)
Russia (Moscow)
Greece (Athens)
---------------------------------------------------------
It's a decent list. I'd take Hampton out. I'd add one in around about Serbia, Croatia and Macedonia. I'd also take Portugal out. I think it would be fair to try give a few countries who don't usually get the chance to host the competition a chance also.
It will be interesting which way they do it, if they go, like you, with the most well known countries and stadiums or they try to give others a chance.
Thing is Serbia Croatia Macedonia won't really have a stadium that makes the grade.
Look on a map, Greece (Athens) will probably be the best option.
I know the map without looking
I don't see why they wouldn't. They have some good stadiums and like Macca mentioned earlier could upgrade to meet the requirements.
I think it gives more people the opportunity to go to matches.. rather than the economically advantaged (I.e. us Brits, Germans )
I like the idea, think it makes a lot of sense, it is also the first time in my life I have ever agreed with UEFA or FIFA on anything..
Just managed to get back on
Cheers TOOR
One of the problems I have with this is instead of one/two nations having home advantage, there will be 13 teams that have home advantage, albeit only in the group stages
For the nations that don't get picked, that's a pretty big disadvantage before the tournament even starts
Anyway, thanks for the comments all. Pretty interesting read
