Sick and tired of the Levy bashing

squid....Spot on re Levy

Chicken, I would consider finishing 5th or above as a fair first season for AVB, considering the players we had lost & also out injured I actually think we have done very well.
No, I don't agree with every decision he makes but he is the one paid to make the decisions, not me.

As I have said all along, he heeds 18-24 months to shape things the way he wants them. Clubs are too keen to dump managers at the first hiccup...................................for example Southampton!

See, no striker is causing conflict on the Spurs board. This is what it's doing to us.

Fifth is a nightmare scenario, but it isnt something that I would blame upon AVB necessarily. Most the teams around us have strengthened compared to last year when I am unsure whether or not we have yet

I think you have to be a moron not to rate AVB

===============

And think you'd have to be a two-faced moron to now claim that you do rate him - but thats another point altogether.

Anyway, lets leave the AVB debate there shall we, as although Weare has tried to ruin the article by again trying to argue with me over AVB, i am likely to get the blame for it?

So, lets go back to the article subject shall we?

Genius,

As i said, i'm not going into the debate again, but fans should never accept going backwards as a club, as a good thing.

Clubs make changes to move forward, which is the sole reason Southampton have done what they did. They didnt replace Adkins with the thinking that its okay to get relegated, they have made changes to improve on their league position - and this is what i expect too - as a minimum.

Fifth would by a total failure.

Sorry fella. Its just i'm a bit fed up with some of the comments i've had to put up with. It was difficult to tell whether you were winding me up or not.

My sincere apology for the bite.

Edinspur,

I'm genuinely sorry. As i say, i get di-ckheads like Weare shouting their trap off all the time, so was just on the defensive.

I'll consider this in future before hitting my keyboard at 100mph.

Why would 5th be a total failure, that is like saying if City finish 2nd, they are a total failure because they finished top last season, or Chelsea are a total failure because they won the CL last season, and this season they cannot win it.

If Spurs finish 5th, then they will have had a good season.

Weare,

I think you're getting confused with me responding to a comment on topic, to deliberately trying to cause friction on an article based on historic affairs.

I know how you work by now. You get shown up for posting drivel, then you desperately try to sway posters to stick up for you by using "the AVB debate" card.

Let it go fella. This is about squid being sick & tired of posters like you blaiming Levy for global warming, the rising cost of energy & the double dip recession - its nothing to do with posters differences on AVB, our opinion of Ade or anything else.

Now be a good lad & move on.

Or, as i'm on your filtered list, just dont inconvenience yourself by logging out all the time to read my comments. Now that is something only a moron would do.

I agree with Chicken that 5th would be a failure, unless we end up winning the Europa. Wouldn't say a total one but a failure nevertheless. To accept it as a good season is like an Arsenal fan accepting doing nothing but finishing in 4th place is a good season, when we know they crave a lot more.

Top 4 is what we have been aiming for. We got it last season, and yet again we've been in it for most of the season and should be expected to reach it with a team that is top 4 quality, knowing once again Arsenal and Liverpool have been having poor seasons for them.

sandy,

I think City would consider it a failure if/when they do finish 2nd (or lower).

I'm not sure even Roman Abramovic would expect Chelsea to win the CL twice on the trot, but he would definitely consider it a failure if Chelsea finish one place below last season.

The only clubs that probably suit your theory, is the clubs that fear relegation every year, then to finish 17th would be a relief.

After all the shenanigans of missing out on CL footy this season, i just cannot fathom how any Spurs fan would consider 5th as acceptable.

As i say, i dont really want to continue this off-topic conversation as i know how the responses will go. It will be Chicken this, and Chicken that.

Can we leave it there or maybe one of us should create a new article to discuss it properly?

I'm off down the pub in a minute but i'll happily create one on Monday.

bit of a sweeping genaralization.....and a bit i know all...you lot no nothing....but ill reply none the less...

im not bothered about missing out (supposedly) on damiao as i know little about him...

and i was fully backing of trying for danny graham as i rate the guy.....if that was the sort price brackets we were shopping in....

wasn't expecting a 'harrods' type raid....but its the area we need addressing most...and it may cost us....

yes levy has done incredible things.....and i love the way we go about things.

think most fans are just frustrated at being so close too summat real special....but not being able too find those last couple of picies of the puzzle.

I don`t want to finish 5th, but that is the reality of the situation. Spurs are up against four perennial CL teams, of which two of those are bankrolled by billionaires with unlimited funds, so if Spurs finish 5th so be it. Sure, it would be nice to finish top four, but Spurs are doing just fine, there are at least another 80 odd sides that can only dream of doing what Spurs are doing, competing at the top end of the table with 4 big hitters.

Get in the real world chicken.

How is 5th a failure? There's no guarantee that anyone could get 4th with this squad.

posted on 1/2/13

Le Thudd......................................Phil Taylor does not waste 30 million on Bent and Bentley!

You have actually made Levy's case for him.......................No more spending massive amounts unless it is absolutely necessary & they are a top class player!

The other thing to remember is that it is not just a £20m outlay for someone like Damaio....................it will be more like £40m by the times wages etc are factored in!

And a final point is that when you bring in someone demanding very high wages, how is that going to a) impact on your current squad & b) how will it impact on future signings & negotiations!

posted on 1/2/13

Man Utd, 2 Clubs with billionaire owners, and another 2 clubs who have bigger stadiums, are traditionally bigger club and bigger wage bills, yet 4th should be nailed on

posted on 1/2/13

Chicken....But that isn't really the point. Look at the players WE HAVE signed, and fans are still mocking the work the Chairman is doing to improve the team/squad. Even claiming that Levy is sitting in his office faxing over wind-up bids for players. That is ridiculous.

Apart from the obvious request for a striker that we didnt get, i think we've been rather spoilt as fans.

Spot on!

I think Chicken needs a reality check. Spurs are doing better than practically every other side in the prem that do not regularly compete in the CL, and supporters are still moaning. Sure it will be great if Spurs reach the CL they probably deserve on league performances over the past couple of seasons. But 4 or 5 teams into 2 CL places just does not go, so it is in the lap of the gods.

I would love top four, but will not be moaning to much with any kind of top six finish if the truth be told.
